| Morning folks! Ethical question for all you, regarding a match I played last night vs the new Tyranid codex.
My question is this; I took notes in order to write a bat rep so I could learn more from the match, started the notes before the match swung all kinds of in my favour. The game was a slaughter of epic proportions. Dice rolled in my favour, yes, but he made some tactical errors I managed to capitalize on.
Now, I don't want to be the guy who sounds like he's singing and bragging about wining by this much. I'm not worried so much about him reading it and being hurt as he doesn't frequent The Dark City forums. But I worry it will come across as being conceited and attention-grabbing, also that there isn't much useful experience or knowledge to be gained from the bat rep that could possibly aid the denizens of the Dark City in some fashion.
Should someone in my situation proceed with writing the bat rep, while endeavouring to keep sportsmanlike conduct?
Cheers! | |

| I'd say just go for it. The fact that you worried about it and posted this thread clearly says you're not "That Guy" so I'm sure nobody will read too much into it. | |

| Nah Adhemars wrong; we all know what an arrogant, selfish stuck-up attention grabbing weasel you are Laughingcarp. And we love you for it In all seriousness buddy, Adhemar's totally right. Plus if you write an excerpt at the top saying that you felt the game banked mostly on good dice rolling and had little to do with tactics etc then I'm sure noone will jump to the wrong conclusions. And if they do then I'll set my Talos on them! | |

I agree ... but I might even take it a step further. If you're concerned mention to your foe that you had intended to do the batrep and ask if he is ok that you still post it. Even give him a location so he can come in and read it and perhaps comment on it in regards to some of the tactical errors he made and allow it to be a learning experience for him as well.

| Eh, if you think it would be a boring and non-useful writeup strategically, and that's the reason you wanted to do a batrep, then don't write it.
If you think it's a fun story or has pretty pictures, and that's why you want to do a batrep - then do it.
It's a hobby and it's a game - only do for it what you get enjoyment out of.

| Thor's right, I personally take great enjoy from the pain, misery and suffering of my opponents; and I certainly don't let this get in the way of my write ups haha! I like Avin Nebr's comment though, if you were in anyway worried about your opponents feelings (whatever THOSE are... ) on the matter then run it by him/her first. | |

| He had been been made aware I was keeping tabs for the purpose of a bat rep and said "go for it", so that's already a thing. I'll see if he's interested in reading it, AvInNebr, thx for the tip. I think I may write it, then. I need the practice and I'm sure there are at least few things to learn regarding my play style. And if nothing else it'll show a bit of insight on the new tyranid codex.
Thanks for the support, people, and beans my warlords appreciate the compliments!

| Hey you are allowed to enjoy your victory..everyone does. I've seen people do some crazy things at tourneys.
You at least have compassion to think of your fellow gamers, but it is a game.

| You obviously have the right attitude.
From a sportsmanship perspective, there is quite a bit of difference between saying "My superior intellect and mad skillz just absolutely crushed the other guy so bad he hid in the bathroom sobbing for an hour." and "My opponent made a few tactical mistakes that I was able to capitalize on. They were: a, b and c."
One of those is TFG. The other is doing a post game analysis that's useful to others.
