Hunting for a component - help sought.

I've got a project on the go, but I'm after a good, strong component for part of it that will hold a vital piece together.

I need eight "things" that look like this:



The btt0om stick doesn't have to be squared, rounded would work just as well. In total, maybe somewhere between 1" to 1.5".
For the vital part right now I need eight of these, but more would be very useful later in the build.

Any tips you might have of where I can find something solid that would work (and by solid, I mean this is needed to afford stability to a vital part, so something in pieces might not work as well).

Nay. Plastic would be best, though metal equally good and less combustible . The flat end at the top is also fairly necessary.

Decent price about a $1 per stand

maybe some plasticard rods. I believe they make um fairly small. just cut, grind and glue. I found that the platiscard is really easy to glue and holds pretty good.

You might also want to check 3D printing. It becomes more and more affordable since you can bassically get do-it-yourself 3D printers. Maybe you have a company somewhere in the area that accepts jobs. Usually 3D polymers are comparible to ABS. (the stuff your vacuum cleaner is probably made off)

Could you use a length of sprue with the peg bit on the end?

When i saw the picture i immediately thought - well that sprue.
