This list is for a tournament at Cincy-Con in the middle of next month. I have only playtested it 3 times but with decent effect.
The basic premise of the list is to deny a movement phase to my opponent while I rush the objectives on foot with my little units of warriors. I do not take credit for the tactic. I saw a youtube video of a guy that was talking about using the raiders to deny table space and I thought it was a really fun idea so this is my version of his idea.
All the the vehicles (Minus the raider full of wyches) begin the game empty. I just place all of the infantry behind the aegis and when the time is right I fleet them to objectives and squat and prey.
The vehicles make a mad dash to the opponents deployment zone and camp as close to non-jump units as they can. (within one inch where possible). I also try to make lines to prevent them from getting around them easily. Things that can go over or around the raider wall are usually taken care of by the venoms (in the case of jump infantry) or the trueborn (left in venoms if I think they well be needed in back field clean up). The Enhanced Sails help me get my placement first turn.
Counting on a 4+ (from turbo boost) seems risky. But in playtesting it seems ok. Even if they do smash 3 raiders on the first turn it stuff they have to go through in order to get where they need to go.
I am looking to keep as much of their force in their deployment zone as I can. This has normally led to a very bunched up enemy force on turns 2 and three. That is where the flyers come into play.
Throwing Pie-Plates at dudes bunched up in their deployment zone is really fun. And kinda works sometimes. KINDA!!
Kill points missions is really bad for this list. Really really bad. I know....
But it is really fun to play in objective based missions. Plus the guys I have tested it against have said it was really fun to play against. They are surprised at DE being able to play the table in an aggressive-defense style.
I really like lilith...not really even sure if she fits in the list but I like having her. Sometimes I put her with the wyches and get all in your face killy and sometimes I just let her soot the quad gun until its time for her to escort a troop choice to an objective.
Again this is more of a fun list than a win a tourny list.
Please let me know how you would run a list like this (of if you think its even a fun way to go).
This tournament is part of a con so I am looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting some new ones rolling some dice and then drinking some beverages with some other guys while playing board games and talking of the matches from the day.
Thanks for taking the time to read a newbies post.
