Combat Drugs Poll; vs Chaos Gift of Mutation?

Oh ok, were you referring to something else for downgrading the warlord with gift? I took it that you were referring to the chaos spawn result for comparing drugs and gifts, but maybe I'm missing other results or effects at play here?

If I take an Archon, I usually drug him up. But I don't find them to be a must-have and if I want points elsewhere, I won't hesitate to lose them.

Yeah but mostly because I run Slicing.

My main army is Chaos though and I almost never take the bin roll because :
1.Extremely random rolls; drugs make your side better in combat with almost every roll, the csm table does all kinds of things. If I had a guaranteed re-roll I'd definitely reconsider them, but as it stands I only take them if I seriously have nothing else to spend the points on.

2. A little more than a sixth chance to do absolutely nothing. Very disappointing to spend 10 points on thin air.

3. Can characters usually cost enough already if kitted out to one's liking, and the bonus usually ends up being mediocre at best.

That more or less sums it up, also you can still get rolls on the table later on.

Depends on points available and army you are facing.
I tend to stick my huskblade soul trap archon with 4 incubi so in bigger games he will get combat drugs, I usually hope for the +1 Str over everything else really just because then he can really chop through stuff.
Also, combat drugs are fun, it adds a different dimension, I would have actually liked to see it as an upgrade available to more units, or could be taken with a sybarite/dracon to make them a bit more attractive to take in kabalite squads!

I dunnoe, Grub, even with access to Drugs I wouldn't be paying points for a Kabbie chief. Doesn't add enough to the unit you know?

Haha, obviously you wouldn't want to get your kabbies into cc unless it was necessary! Personally I don't think I would want to take them on a kabbie unit anyway with the way drugs are anyway, but if I wouldn't say no if they were free
