| Hey everyone, I'm a new Dark Eldar player and have been looking forward to playing them for ages, but I have to admit a lot of my model choices are carried by how awesome they look. That said I very much want to use Incubi in my army, but wanted to get not so much opinions on if I should use them, I've made that choice. I want hopefully tactical advice on how to protect/support them with other units. I've read some very interesting articles about Incubi being an expensive but awesome shock troops when taking in 10man squads. And I like this because they've wicked looking. My idea is to either transport them in raiders or try a portal list. But I'm thinking of having about x2 10man squads, idea's behind this is they're great in 4-5 man squads an will win combat in subsequent combat phase, but by that time they will have taken loses and be useless at taking out anything else an thus a one use expsensive weapon. My thinking is, as an article I read described, using 10 because even though they will still take loses, they'll win combat in first phase and then in immiediatly become more durable as will have FNP whilst they move on to their second kill. This is what I want to try, but now wondering on rest of my list to support this, any help an ideas on how to support this approach of list would be amazing thanks! | |

| Incubi really do kick butt, but a couple of suggestions: lacking grenades, they need someone to bring a PGL with them, an Archon a strong choice.
They ARE a fire magnet, but 2 boats of them splits your opponent's fire; I would say they both need to slam up into their face fast, so if I were to take 2 raiders, I would put aethersails on both, to get them certain of a turn 2 charge. Send both up one flank, hug LOS blocking scenery to thwart his gunlines, and present other threats too. Add some disposable but non-ignorable fast units, say some Blaster Reavers.
Turn 2 they will start at one end of his line, and munch their way across, as his own units prevent him from responding!
Watch out for AP3: Battle Cannons, Baleflamers, Vindicators etc will ruin your Incubi.
Have fun, and good chopping!

| I think it depends on the rest of your list... Ice had a lot of success with the following unit:
8 Incubi Raider with aethersails
I'll usually go after a flank and support with Wyches (w haywire). The incubi are a feast or famine unit. They seem to either die quickl6 or destroy half an army.

| Never liked "a lot" of Incubi myself. Sure 10 will make whatever they're pointed at explode(!), but the cost of unit and the fact most high ap weapons could care less about your armor 3 and your feel no pain, makes a small squad more terrifying. And yeah, anyone who knows what they're capable of is going to try to knock out their boat and leave them stranded.
I'd rather split my 10 incubi into five on venoms. One unit should see combat regardless of incoming fire. That's still enough to kill 3 terminators on the charge, and they should stay in combat at least through your opponents phase so they don't get shot to pieces after their killing frenzy.
But what do I know? I use bloodbrides. Bwahaha.

| I used 7 with a glavex with demiglave and onslaught with a archon with HB, pgl, soul trap, and sf, with Vector on the Dais(let the groans begin) and the unit took out the Necron warlords squad with bodyguards causing them to flee and get cut down. Actually considering getting more to distract fire from my opponent concentrating on them. | |

| I love these guys and with the return of marines to the game they've just gotten better. I run one or two squads of five in raiders with aethersails. Each squad gets a haemonculi for the pain token. A 3+ save with FNP is solid. I also run the baron. He flies along side the raiders and jumps into any squad that needs his grenades. He starts the game in a wrack squad so that he can bring an extra pain token along with him. An incubi squad with two pain tokens is a horror to behold.
A squad of ten is overkill. You'll wipe anything you touch and get caught out in the open. A squad of five will stay in combat for two rounds and so will never get shot. Also, a squad of ten is so expensive.
When it comes to incubi, less is more. RB
