1800pts - The Emperor's Will - Dawn of War

My opponent was coming at me with a Land Raider containing Terminators and an Emperor's Champion, a Las-Predator, a Las-Dreadnought, a squad of Vanguard, a Plasma-Devastator squad and three Tactical Squads, one of which was in a Rhino.

For this game, I intentionally put aside my usual list (which had been doing quite well for itself recently) and put together a list of the units I rarely - if ever - get to use.
I lead with a Gunslinging Archon, wielding two Blast Pistols and sitting in a Venom with four Blasterborn.
Behind him were two units of Warriors, one of which was in a Raider with Splinter Racks, and two units of Wracks, both in Venoms.
A Haemonculus Ancient ran with four Grotesques in a Raider, and two Chroni (Chronoses....?) back him up, followed shortly by a Ravager totting Disintegrators and two small units of Scourge.
A small unit of Trueborn with two Dark lances rounded it off.

Suffice to say, I hammered him.

I can't remember the exact details of the entire match, but I found the variation in my list interesting enough.

The Grotesques were fantastic. Although a little bit of fire took down two of the Vanguard, it was the Grotesques who charged in and slaughtered them in combat. Their higher than normal toughness was what gave them the edge, plus their multiple wounds, with no full casualties by the end of the game. They got their full three Pain Tokens and just tore through the Vanguard - but then due to their speed were a bit useless afterwards as they were too far from anything else to do anything useful except take pot-shots with the Haemonculus' Hex Rifle.

The Wracks in Venoms were quite nice. The Venoms laid down the usual support fire, but once I got the Wracks sitting on objectives they were nigh unmoveable. I think both units had the luck of the dice in them, as they refused to budge and successfully held both objectives for me.

The Scourge are a usual entry for me, but I fielded them as two small units rather than one big one, and noticed the difference. They were FAR more useful this way, lending their fire more as support to everything else than just as their own block, and the result was catastrophic for my opponent's two foot-slogging Tactical squads. Hell, one of those units even got to charge and WON a combat! Without casualties or anything!

The man of the match for this army though is my new Archon. I think I might have to use him a little more, mainly because running around with two Blast Pistols is hilarious. Ok, granted, he was also running with Blasterborn in a Venom, but that Venom went down quite quickly and the Blasterborn were picked off one by one (most of the shots missing anyway the useless idiots.....).
The Archon though personally racked up two Terminators, the Lascannon arm from a Dreadnought and a LAND RAIDER all by himself. I can;t call fairer than than that, nor could I argue when he eventually fell, despite Shadowfield, to the fist of that Dreadnought.

It was a quick game, lasting only four terms, and just around an hour and a half.

That pic is the end of my turn three, the beginning of his. All he has left are the Las-Predator (in combat with a Chronos), the Tactical Squad at the back corner (about to be hit by Scourge), the Dreadnought in the crater (missing his cannon arm) and the one Plasma Cannon holding Marine to the left of the board (starring down a solitary Scourge).

At this point I'd lost one small Wrack units, one Venom, a few Blasterborn and the odd wound here and there.

By the end of my next turn, all that remained of the Black Templars was the solitary Plasma Cannon Marine on the left.
