DoD rules state that Vect must begin the game on the ship + "nine models".

Now battle brothers can use our transports, this means you could fill it with some shooting nasties (dark reapers etc.) & drop vect off with someone else.

Or alternatively if you're going unbound, fill it up with an all-star squad of combat monster ICs...

Additionally, FAQ has dropped the stipulation that Dais can't take Raider upgrades... presumably the implication is that it now can.

Doesn't make it a good unit, but it goes someway to improving it?

Thoughts/disagreements? How can we get the most out of Vect and the Dais this edition?

It makes the Dias more interesting for sure, but it's still too high in points to be userful

If you put the Archon from a Stormsurge on it it gets WAY better. Vect can toss his big blast on a unit that is now at a -4 Ld, and that alone is huge.

The Dias will get an FAQ entry to turn it into a Chariot. Vect will be stuck on it, and it will resemble the first Dark Eldar Codex's version of Vect. Or at least that is what will likely happen in the next iteration of our codex.

I doubt this will happen. It's not really the way their going with things. More likely there will be stipulations as to who can ride with him.

Or, they could just cut it out of the codex entirely...

With the new codex coming out though, there's no army (other than new necrons) that chariots fit with better than us!

Chaos Daemons? I thought they had some chariots? I like Vect on foot and think he is a very well written character (if a bit costly)!

Except that models aren't stuck on Chariots. They CAN get off.
Which is why I wouldn;t mind this being the case if it means Vect gets a Sweep attack too (and maybe the rest of the passengers as well? Hmm?)

Sorry, but what I am reading is that they are basically one unit, and can not disembark. Even to the point that Resurrection Protocols will bring back a chariot if it is destroyed, and the character/rider dies if the chariot dies, and the chariot dies if the character/rider dies.

i'm toying with Dias with 9 fire dragons in it, bringing an autarch, and putting retro thrusters on the Dias to deep strike it where i want to melta everything and generally clog up the backfield. One thing i'm a little hazy with for the wording is whether i can swap out its dark lances for disintegrators, more lances would just be over kill

I believe that battle brothers still can't start the game in our transports can they?

If so, then they can't start with Vect and he has to start with 9 models. You could switch out before moving on turn 1 though.

I assumed by leaving it in reserve i would bypass any issues with that.

Also anyone actually have any confirmation on being able to take upgrade or is it just allowance by omission? Local TO wants to rule against it just because the 6th edition FAQ didn't allow it.

Raider upgrades were disallowed in the old FAQ but according to the actual codex rules they are allowed as the Dais is treated 'exactly like a Raider'.

Looks like the TO has to make up his mind which edition to play.
Or does he want 7th with 6th FAQ?
Could get a bit complicated.
Also, in my humble opinion, a Dais not allowed to have splinter racks is like a Mercedes not allowed to have electric windows.
GW has just seen the error in their ways...

Ask your local TO if he will also be playing area terrain as that is also something that was included in 6th edition which is no longer current...?

Once a new FAQ has been put out there is no reason really to ever consult the old one.  

If in doubt in a gaming situation (progressing to the next step only if there is substantial doubt):

1. Is it clearly covered in the codex?
2. Is it clearly covered in the FAQ?
3. Is it clearly covered in the BRB?
4. What is the common sense way to approach the problem (maybe here you could look at an old FAQ, but it would be persuasive, not binding)?


With the Dais and upgrades you don't even need to go past step 1.  As I said at the top and Adhemar has pointed out, it is treated "exactly like a Raider".
Now there is nothing in the FAQ against this, clearly it is  how it is intended to be played.

Removing something from an FAQ is as much a conscious decision as including something.
