| Yarr harr harr!! it has been a while but the pirate theme for the army continues to grow as I work on my latest project to give Asdrabuel Vect a nice look and a fitting ship. By now I'm working on version 3.0 since the other two didn't cut it and wel....uhm... they were salvaged. This is somewhere during construction: the sail: unfortunatly the camera broke somewhere during the building proces. So there is a little jump in time to where I start painting. This is the current state. The Idea is to give it a rusty look with purple light channels in the armor and blue light from some other sources. Pardon the rubbish painting in some parts, I was working in some bad light and I haven't found the time yet to improve it. It is still work in progress, but here you go: themed front canon: some throphies: the deck: proper propulsion: and of course the captain him self (counts as Vect) So far it took: - 2 wave serpents - 1 venom - 1 wraithlord - 1 warwalker - 2 vipers - 1 old hellion - some plasticard - modeling chains - bits and pieces - some IG thingie I got from someone to build the base. Suggestions to make it even beastier are always welcom. Also, If anyone knows a fitting dark eldar-ish name for the captain and his vessel, your are more than welcom to share. thanks for reading and watching! | |

| Great stuff! That's a lot of work, and parts, you have put into this Dais, Blck Rven. The sail reminds me of the Eldar BFG models, well done.
I like all of it, including the sailing-ship wheel. The cannon doesn't fit an Eldar theme with its ornate decorations, but it would also be a shame to possibly wreck it by removing them. Maybe add some spikes to the ropes wrapped around its barrel, similar to those on the side of a Ravager?
Cheers. | |

| Thanks mate! I'm glad you like it.
with the cannon I asume you mean the front cannon? Or do you mean all three? (also the CWE Lances) because IMO the CWE lances could use some work to make them a bit more dark.
I think that the cannon on the front fits good in the pirate theme, just as the wheel is not really DE style but still pretty nice. However.... more spikes on the cannon does sounds tempting....

| Yes, I just meant the front one. It certainly is very 'piratey', you could also just add a sickle blade to the bottom of it, like on the FW Reaper's cannon. Just a suggestion, but it does look fine the way it is.
It is a shame that the dais cannot take one of the cannons from the Tantalus, because that would fit the size of the barrel that you have. Would make the vehicle a lot more appealing to field as well.
Cheers. | |

| Oh I do lie this quite a lot. Very impressive. I love the touch of the Necrons flanking the Captains post at the back, like trophies that have been built into a throne area. Very nice. I must say I sort of agree about the cannon looking odd with Dark Eldar, but sat the same time I also agree that it fits the pirate theme very nicely. I would actually suggest trying to get of the ropes wrapped around it, making it slightly more streamlined. Then it would fit in a lot better. | |

| Thanks alot! That was exactly what I was going for. Lot's of trophies and pointy bits. Mostly rust but some gold linings for the throne area. I can't decide wether or not I like to think that the Necrons are actually still alive and forced in to this humiliating task. However, I have been doing some paiting. Here is an update: I've decided to add some blue lights to contrast better and add to the cold/warm balance. Sorry about that, I can't get it up.... never said that before. I'm not really an expert on OSL, as this is my third attempt (after a talos and a wych squad). But i'm pleased with the blue ligths. The purple lights seem a bit weak now, maybe I like them better when I check again tomorrow. As usual, compliments, comments and tips are welcome. cheers | |

| Your work is amazing. It's in keeping with the theme and very nicely painted. I love your archon, and the addition of the cannon is a very nice touch. | |

| I love that piratey theme you have going there. At first I was sceptical, but you pulled off a wonderful work on that one. Excellent painting as well. When I saw the finished product I was like "whee, Queen Anne's Revenge in space" but your name is better and by far more original Alliteration's awesome! | |

| Thanks for the compliments Gents!
Yeah Dogmar, I kept having that name in my head as well. Both that one and the Black pearl's original name, the Wicked Wench. I especially loved the alliteration in it. So that was the inspiration for the name.
It is so awesome to hear that I managed to surprise you with the result.

| very cool conversion, cool paintjob.
The cannon in front bothers me somewhat, looks a bit over the top, looks a bit weird.

| This is an amazing job, PLEASE take some better photos to do it justice! A white floor and backdrop, even just a bedsheet draped over the table and taped up the wall: borrow another desklight for 2 sources, or take it outside on a grey cloudy day!
A stunning build, great painting, I want to see it better!

| Thanks.
There is small painting compitition at my local GW shop, which provides some quality pictures of the model.
I might take it there to see if it brings any good results.

| Rather epic!
Will that be a splinter cannon or dark lance? Shuriken weapons are pretty different from any DE weapons but that blade has made it look quite unique. And Dire Avenger helms are always cool!

| So I wasn't quite happy with the look of the model. It still looked a bit to much CWE. So in order to give it a more Dark eldar look, I decided to trim down the rifle so that it evolves smoother in to the blade. Now it is also more minemalistic en petite, like the real splinter rifle. I also added some green lights to live things up a bit. The OSL on the weapon and the green lights are a bit too sloppy for my taste, I probably do them again soon. The blades are still there, they just seem to vanish in the background unfortunately: | |

| I like these guys! I don't know how it fits with your army, but the best way to go Eldar to Dark Eldar IMO is by breaking up the pansy smoothness of their armour plates.
Old Dark Eldar Warrior sprues come with a million little spiky bits, remember those? Nobody ever used all of them. They could make all the difference if someone has spares.

| This is some really great stuff! Great execution, that front is just so pirate heavy and great idea with those necron warriors as trophies/part of the ship. Love it! Also, great conversion and build. This might interest you | |

| At a quick glance, I took them for normal commorites. After some thinking, I realized those weren't DE parts. Well done and they feel very cool. Gives me a feel of roman soldiers, with torso armor and bracers, showing off their biceps and wearing those feathers on their head!
I noticed you got two threads scattered around here in the painting section. Have you considered opening a Project Log? Message or post here if you want one, I can help you moving these to the PL section.

| Yarrr harr harrr!!
This is where I'll be posting my ingenuity and wicked creations for the corsair themed/pirate themed Dark Eldar army.
So far I've been working on The malevolent Maiden, flagship of the pirate fleet. Some CWE warriors converted to DE KW. And I have plans for painting my Harlequin squad and creating some really cool jetbikes from CWE jetbikes.
See you on the horizon!
Moved and merged your great topics here. This is a glad event for the whole Commoragh! /faceless
