Hey guys, I'm new here but how else than to start this up right? hope you like what I've done so far, if you have any suggestions etc, please.. feel free to post below.

Do you thin your paint at all? The edge highlights on the raider look like they could be a little finer, I'd recommend getting hold of a decent brush (I use Winsor and Newton Series 7 '00' for these) and some Lahmian medium. mix a little of the medium with the highlight colour on your brush and you should find the paints doesn't come off quite so thick.

Also, if you're struggling for a steady hand, place the model on the desk, don't hold it, and cup your brush hand in your other, resting it on the edge of your painting station/desk etc. You should then find that fine control of the tip is a bit easier, just move it using your fingers rather than your whole hand.

Looking good! More purple DE is always a good thing! I love the wings on the scourges I'm usually not a fan of the feathered wings but for some reason they look really good with your guys. Nice color choices, good highlighting and clean application. Keep up the great work and let us know whats coming down the pipe!

Apparently.. my girlfriend doesn't want me to get my army painted..

Bringing this back to life.. Just a few pictures to update.

I think we're using the same base scheme. I like the purple you're using. Regarding what TBE said about thinning your paints, I find the easiest way to do that is just to use less paint, and spread it around to thin it out. I know it's hard to do that when you're doing highlights, but since it needs less paint you can just wipe off most of it on a towel and dip a little bit of it in water.

I don't know if that helps, but I've done a lot of highlights on my obsidian rose so I feel like I've got a handle on it. Otherwise I love the color scheme. Purple has a special place in every eldar's heart.

Ok boys and girls.. Girlfriend has stated she's gonna be buying me some Incubi (although everyone recommends against them.. I still love them) So, the question remains, how should I paint them? I'm thinking white/cream to match the army and show they're "elite" with hints of purple on their helmet/shoulder pads? what's your thoughts?

Alright, been too long since I've posted in here so here it is! Just a bit of a update with what I have been doing, side note, I've got 3 new venoms on the way for my birthday! (on the second of Nov!!) Can't wait!

First up I decided my photo's are crap and didn't wanna spend a whole lot of money on a professional photostage! so here's my DIY one!

Total money spent: ZERO.  

I simply went into a supermarket(Iceland) and asked for a box! secondly I went into a store called Wilkinsons (A sort of DIY store but not so extreme) and they allow you to take preview bits of wallpaper so I took about 2 meters worth  

Well anyway! here you go, my DIY LightStage!

Next up is my army, I typically wanted my primary colour being purple but felt that it was quite bland, so added white and organge into the mix!

Looks cool. I like how they all look really different, even though they use the same color scheme. That's definitely something I wish I would have done with my army

Glad you like it Nariaklizhar still have another venom and two ravagers to go! plus a tie up between a Razorwing or Trueborn or Reavers.

This is pretty sweet. Am i the only one that wants to paint a smily face on that white helmet?

Your paint style kind of makes me think of borderlands but i don't know why

You've got the beginning of something cool here, I like the colour choices and feel like it could really be cool.
If I could offer a few constructive criticisms..
1. I feel the weathering on the venoms could be a little bit too much. You don't want it to take away from the other colours you're using
2. I see you've added a highlight to the orange. I would suggest doing that for the purple as well, so it doesn't look like flat colour. Even a simple, thin edge highlight on all the visible ridges would pop
3. I'm feeling like the white on the venoms are a bit much. With the orange being the vibrant and focal colour, the stark white clashes a little bit and take away from your orange. I might suggest using a grey or a desaturated purple (like a "genestealer purple" or a "palid wych flesh")
4. Remember to thin your paints out. Even if it takes 10 thin layers to get the orange to cover, it looks better than 2 thick layers. Another thing you can do if you're having trouble getting a colour to cover another is to use a darker colour as a base to build upon (example: use mephiston red and paint the orange on top of that)

I hope this helps at least a little bit! I'm partial to purple kabalites, so i'm keen to see more of your work!
