The Monthly Vow: January 2016!

Happy new year folks. Pledge to build and paint all your new man dollies you recieved over the festive period

Pledge what you plan to acieve below and your achievement shall of course be emblazoned in TDC's patent pending, trademark-lawsuit pending Comorrah purple!TM

My pledge for the month. Hopefully it will be a more productive one

Infinity - Kornak Gazarot, x2 Raktorak. DZC - Oppressor. 40k - Raider crew. Malifaux - Izamu the armor

Terrain. Assemble and paint the following:
-Brush 4 Hire "Not Eldar Space Elf Terrain"

30K Assemble and paint the following:
-Land Raider
-Spartan for LVO
-10 Tactical Marines/Rampagers to fill out squads

40K
-Wave Serpent
-10 Guardians

Carried over from December - Molik Karn, Aptimus Marketh and Supreme Archdomina Makeda for Hordes

New for January - Assemble and base all the miniatures from AVP - The Hunt Begins (3 Predators, 5 Colonial Marines and a bunch of aliens). Not painting them yet though.

Try to get 150 points of Steel Phalanx guys together for Infinity

It is such a great game. Stoked you are getting into it. The scourge have some of the best minis in the game IMO, and are a real joy to paint (and pretty quick too).

The oppressor is a fab model (one of the commanders) and is actually excellent rules wise too. Let me know how you get on with the game once you have tried it a few times. I love it!

I plan on going with the Desolator at first for my Commander (the floaty thing, right?) because I love how it looks, though the one you did us probably more my style.

Everyone's stuff is coming up Milhouse. I, however, have been stuck playing video games after getting rightfully crap (forum PC'ed my post - change now to "peeved") off with painting panel lines on the voidraven.
I have 2 weeks still!

Just realised that i still have touch ups to do before tournament on first weekend of feb!

Don't feel bad, I bought my Voidraven the day it was released.....still half primed

I may have also accidentally bought a tyranid army, so that's sitting on my desk, as well as some commission work.

Izamu the armor finished. Just need to wait for the weather to improve so I can varnish and finish the basing. I noticed While taking the photo that I have done a poor job on the sword hilt, so I have gone back and done some remedial work to improve it. Got the rest of the month to work on the 4 man raider crew

my project for this year is actually to pull out and paint and play with my dark eldar force.

this month has nearly pasted us by but as it a big malifaux tordy here in wellington nz
I painted ainuos,hannah,tara and crew,lazarius,outlaw gunslingers this month. pictures to come up but certainly wanted to introduce my self and steal all your ideas for my dark eldar army !

Seeing an ever increasing number of non-GW models in these monthly vows. Is this indicative of a move away from 40k, or just the improvement in models produced by other companies?

Both I think. I find 40k a bit of an unsatisfactory experience at the mo, the obvious balancing issues between armies really puts me off playing. I much prefer a balanced game like dropzone commander, where the game is in the balance right up until the last turn, than the "turn 1 get blown off the table, pack up models and go home" of 40k. Also as I get older I like to play a variety of games as it keeps things interesting. I have not abandoned my 40k armies, just taken a little break to paint some of the excellent other models I game with, as there really is some lovely sculpts out there that are a lot of fun to paint

Yeah, I'm much the same. Last game of 40k I played my DE vs an, admittedly pretty cheesy, Eldar/Ultramarines army and I got absolutely slaughtered. I don't mind that but I literally could not see any way in which that slaughter would not have occurred, the armies were that imbalanced. Since then I've been branching out into Warmahordes, Infinity etc, with some amazing models and much more balanced game systems.

What did he use, what did you use and what mission?
