How do you effectively use mandrakes as of 7th edition.

What ranged weapon would you give them? They look melee centered but I'm not
Sure

They have Baleblasts automatically, which are relatively decent ranged weapons.

Some people swear by Mandrakes but there's far too much ignores cover in 7th edition to make them worthwhile in my opinion, which is a shame as they're utterly gorgeous models. Same can be said for much of the DE range though! Here's hoping that 8e makes our units as useful as they are beautiful.

Check out the optimistic archon section in some of the recent splintermind podcast episodes. They talk about mandrakes and incubi and how to get the best use out of them.

aye thanks. I will make sure to do that when I get home. I have a long car ride ahead of me so I will check it out. Perhaps this is a better option to make a new thread for but, what about the forge world big ship

Not sure what the Tantalus will look like in 8th but it's a decent model for 7th 12 dissie Cannon shots and causes either D3 or D6 strength 7 wounds by flying over an enemy unit (can't remember which) and a transport capacity of 10 (again guessing as I haven't looked at the rules in a long time)
