| hi all! I am planning on basically completely my army with the christmas megaforce, but I bought on ebay 2 old raiders and a ravager. I don't really like the old models, but the raiders and ravagers are ok, and it means I only need to add a few warriors and a venom plus the megaforce to round out the 1500 points I planned. I am using the warriors I got to practice colour schemes before I get the lovely new models, and I want to go for a primarily bone colour scheme. so without further ado (and apologies for the poor picture quality, it is so dark here atm ) non flash flash I'm really pleased with the bone, but REALLY disappointed with the purple. It looks so flat! I want to try a warmer purple, instead of the foundation purple. But I am wondering what the other GW purples will look like when applied, or if I should try and pick up a different brand's purple. Or even not use purple at all... someone on another forum suggested black, or red. I think maybe black would be too flat again and look "unfinished" and red perhaps too big a contrast? Thanks | |

| Well, they look rather nice, although they could use soem more contrasting parts, like dark bronze details etc. About the purple: how about "extreme" (meaning: rather strong) highlights? Just mix the base color with Bleached Bone or Elf Flesh and highlight the purple parts in 2- 3 Steps and it should be just fine.
edit: Btw, even if these models are for test painting only, how about some basing? It's always nice to have some idea what your finished miniatures will look like.

| I was planning on doing dark bronze on my real models, for knee pads, weapons, runes and so on. Also, I was pretty lazy in terms of detail for these- ie the gun is only purple and silver, as I was just trying to get the bone and purple sorted.
Thanks for your input. I might highlight the purple and base them, and put up some new pics.

| I really dig the bone colored armor with the bronze. I would shade the purple with a darker color (black?) and then highlight it a bit more to create some definition. I think you're off to a smashing start though. This scheme really works for me! _________________ "Solutions are good, how many dark eldar archons can you find sitting in their throne rooms whining that they used to rule the universe? | Can only agree with ESE, the bone colour looks great with bronze. The purple might need highlightning, or just a quick brush.

| You could try to paint the undersuit in a darker brown(Scorched Brown highlighted with Bestial or Cathlan?) to provide a little depth. The bone colored armor with bronze and purple is looking quite awesome. _________________ "Solutions are good, how many dark eldar archons can you find sitting in their throne rooms whining that they used to rule the universe? And you think I should start the purple with black? Yes to the undersuit question. I think that you can just shade the undersuit with a black or black/purple wash and then highlight the purple a little more. It would just give the purple areas some more depth. I hate to sound like a broken record, but the bone, bronze, purple combo is really working for me _________________ "Solutions are good, how many dark eldar archons can you find sitting in their throne rooms whining that they used to rule the universe? | my undersuit recipe is calthan brown, with a black wash. (lazy)
my purple is warlock purple, then 50/50 warlock and liche, then liche, then a tiny bit of 50/50 liche with bleached bone. I think the photo is taking a bit of the shading away.

| im not convinced by my skin tone, so I did some testing. elf flesh + leviathan purple Astronomican grey + leviathan purple Astronomican grey + badab black 5 based wyches. The astronomicon grey + badab black is in the middle. Purple boy next to him. The other 's have got watered down leviathan purple. What does anyone think? | |

| I would vote for the skin tone of the Wyches from the previous post. That scheme really works with the bases/armor/everything else for me. _________________ "Solutions are good, how many dark eldar archons can you find sitting in their throne rooms whining that they used to rule the universe? | I must say I wasn't convinced to start with, but the later photos look really good, and that colour scheme works really well on the venom and reavers. That last squad of 5 warriors sold me on it for infantry too, keep up the good work! _________________ Tan? You're joking, I'm a gamer, you're lucky I'm wearing deodorant!

| Which paint scheme are you going with for the skin tone? | Astronomican grey + badab black, best contrast with the armour. | |
