Reaver loadout

Hi,
Is it possible to equip the reaver Arena champion with the special weapon, or does it have to be a “regular” reaver?

The wording for the reaver entry just states one in three models can take a blaster/heatlance and grav talon/cluster caltrops so yeah I think arena champions can take those options.

That was my first assumption based on the codex wording aswell. The reason I ask is because I was trying to make a list in battlescribe, but it won’t allow me to add these options to the arena champion. I can only add them to regular reavers. Not so much the grav-talon, but the special weapons are a pain.

Battlescribe isn't right about everything, gotta just pull out the codex and check the wording for yourself sometimes.

Battlescribe has its own way of doing things, I wouldn't put too much faith in the restrictions it imposes on you. Far as the unit entry, Arena Champion can take an agoniser, a heat lance and a grav talon with no problem even if the Battlescribe does not. What I do is just do it the way Battlescribe makes it, then tell the opponent that the champ has the extra gear - works out fine with our player group.

To hamme rit in, I would say its possible intentional that any model in a Reaver unit can take the upgrades.

In a Kabalite Warrior unit for instance, the options say:
"The Sybarite may...."
or
"one Kabalite Warrior may..."

With Reavers, there is also any option for:
"The Arena Champion may..."
but the following option says
"one MODEL may..."

THat to me sounds very intention, that it is not distinguishing between Reaver and Arena Champion.
So equiping the Arena Champion with alternative weapons or other otpions looks completely legit.
