I'm in trouble...

...with my girlfriend if if I do this... Okay, not really, but man would she not really understand.

The question is... is it worth it? I mean, these are going for $12.50 on Ebay as of right now... I need advice.

I frankly think the major reason you'd get in trouble, is the other things, that costs 70 bucks.

I might start using shredders as count as - and sell all mine. My opponents wont know what a blaster should look like anyway.

Is it too much to cut the ammo clip and the end off the shredder and stick the barrel from the blast pistol onto it?

I would look around online a bit more. I use Hoard 'O Bits, for example, both on eBay and on their own web site, and I can tell you that even at full price their Blasters are considerably cheaper and they also come with the Shredder that you can then modify.

For even cheaper, you can also get the Blasters from the Reaver and the Warrior command sets, and use them to modify things like the extra Shredders.

If you can afford it, if you have that much disposable income that you can happily spend on those Blasters, then do it.

Otherwise it is easy to convert them using pieces from the Shredder, Blast Pistol and Disintegrator.

I took my girlfriend into a GW to place my preorder when the new Dark Eldar had just been announced. She definetly wasn't expecting for me to spend THAT much.

Are you planning to use the blasters from any scourges you get? The only problem with them is that the arms are bare, and that just adds individuality to the warrior/trueborn with the blaster.

Meh, I think Haywire blasters are a better use of scourges. We can get blasters from Kabalites (both Warrior and Trueborn), blast pistols, Dark Lances are everywhere, but Haywires aren't.

Very true, but having blasters on the Scourge srpue means having to buy a lot less blasters from ebay . Especially since you don't want blasters on your Scourges so have a spare blaster from each box of Scourges you buy! Yay!

I'd suggest not and to suck it up and convert them. I've bought about two on Ebay and enough stuff to convert ten more (I'm not even going to use all Shredder pieces, some will be basic rifles as I am painting the Blaster tip gold and the rest all black to mask the different bitz I'm using). Way, way cheaper than $80 (thinking like thirty for the ten).

My Blasters are a combination of actual Blasters, Shredders with the barrel and ammo clip cut off, Spinter Rifles with the barrel cut off close to it's base and "sawn off" Dark Lances (ie. the battel infront of the darklight chamber cut off to make it look like a bigger Blaster).

Pictures of all blaster conversions would be appreciated.

Indeed - Nomic's conversion sounds really complex. I'd like to see it.

Dud convert them if you can I know everyone want the actual thing but sometime it isn't worth it. Plus in 6 month or less people will move on to something else and you can get them cheaper, then you can switch them out. I know it a pain sometimes. But take from someone that has been doing this for 20 years it is an art to acquire armies you want and not go broke while playing this game. I have seen to many guys come into this game hot and heavy then realise how much there spending on it and say it isn't worth it. So do it smart and your enjoyment will last a lot longer and your armies will multiple also.

As far as your girlfriend goes vs. the hobbie learn to pick your battles if this is one go for it if not then back off. Just remember 70 dollars on blasters could turn into 70 dollar pair of shoes on top of what you spent. Been married for 19 years so I think I have so experience in this area.

As far as the hobby vs girlfriend thing goes, Abbie is super-indulgent. Birthday gifts? Dark Eldar. Christmas gifts? Dark Eldar. Upcoming Anniversary? I'm pretty sure it's Dark Eldar. I'm basing that on, "Baby, don't go buying more Dark Eldar thingies until after the 13th." The 13th, obviously being our anniversary.

Good to hear. I guess in nut shell I was saying don't be stupid. Enough said on that topic. I just find sometime if you wait long enough you can get them at the price you think is reasonable. Have fun today and go enslave some of the lesser races.
