Bikes? I like bikes, they should be a Troop option.

Jetbikes? Bah, the Hellions kill them all and laugh about it, no bike unit is ever good in any army.

I took the old bikes purely for the 3 bike, 2 blaster unit. I used to run 2 of these in the old codex and they were simply awesome tank hunting units. So easy to hide until the moment to strike arrived, tag teaming them meant anything they looked at went down.

The new models are great but the unit itself just does not have the punch of the old one.

Reavers should be a troops option, dammit! Sad Troops that never stop and zoom all over yo troops are the best troops. There should at least be some HQ that makes them troops, a single squad at the very least.

I vote new ones, cause they provide unique tactics, like forcing morale check in the movement phase, which will be auto-failed if unit already running from tank-shock. Truly terror incarnate.

Also their ability to hurt things in the movement phase should not be underestimated, many IG players in my parts using bubblewrap tactics, denying assault armies charge, reavers fix that.

Do you always upgrade to the Arena Champ? Because barring the leadership boost then the Old ones would be tougher to kill or just as tough to kill - so the only difference would be the 9 LD versus the 8.

If i run 6 then yes - the investment in the LD is worth it at that point

I'd have to agree with that. Not a must in my book, but surely a wise expenditure of leftover points.

This was a very tight battle, I do believe our closest yet. I kept it open for extra time because it was so close.

However, since I'm starting work on the next writeups and I do need to call this thing at some point...by a razor thin margin the Old Bikes win the race, but it looks like there is hardly a clear consensus on that call.

I do belive its either Draw or a New.

Draw would be much more realistic, since a thin margin doesnt really represent usefull info.

First off, really like these articles. So that's a compliment for Thor665.

Then on to the matter at hand: I voted new.

No new insights to share really... I'm just a big fan of the bladevanes, the heat lance and the look of the models.
