Eldur's Dark Eldar Army ---> NEW PICS, including CW Eldar (Ulthwé) Allies!!

Hi everyone and welcome to my project log.

This is my first DE army, I started it in December 2011. It's a mix of the Flayed Skull Kabal (well, more exactly the Emasculators), the Seventh Woe Wych Cult and the Prophets of Flesh of Urien Rakarth.
This is my army list (of miniatures)

From what I can tell it looks good but I think the pics do not really do them justice. Lighting is way off.

They look good from here Eldur, but as Firdeth said I'd love to see some more pictures. I know what it's like struggling to get better pictures, but it really does help. Looking forward to more.

GAR gave me some great advice when it comes to taking pictures, increase the exposure setting on your camera to +2/3 to +1. I also found taking them in my kitchen where i've got lots of little halogen spotlights helped cut out shadows, plus the lighter is whiter instead of the yellow tint you can get from most lightbulbs

And oh yeah, not wishing to be nosey, but what the hell is the big wasp type thing in the frame in the background??? Is it a real insect or just a model?

@The_Burning_Eye: haha, yeah, it's a Scorpion from Sahara Desert, bought in Tunisia (Northern Africa). And thanks for the advice!!!

Definitively, I'll try and make some photos with the best light I can find!!! I hope it will be this weekend (I work in a different city so right now I can't take them...).

Your converted Haemonculi are pure awesome. Those old Grotesque models certainly work well for Haemies.

The old grotesques make haemonculi very easy... just cut those arms away and glue what you want! Liquifers are trumpets from old Vampire Counts Black Knights musicians. The other arms (agoniser/venom blade), from wyches, but maybe I could have used spare arms from Wracks.

Talkin' about Wracks... they're next!

I cant say anything negative. Very nicely done. If all that red is supposed to be blood, then i must say, blood is darker. Dark crimson. I think i will use black and red nail paint on mine...*ponders*
All in all, a very nicely painted army. Would actually give it a like , but y'know, theres none here

@EnfernuxActually blood, when it's fresh, has a bright red colour if it comes from arterial (oxygenated) flow, and it's darker (dark crimson ) when it comes from venous (non oxygenated) flow.
In fact, look at your own Avatar... those two blood spots are a mix of the two kinds of blood, but in the center are mainly venous.

My Archon has a preference over bright red blood, that's why he orders to only cut arteries. So, they should obey if they want to live another raid... (You know, this is only a bad excuse, haha)

When painting an army, I highly recommend exposing your miniatures painted and in formation so that when you see them it encourages you to complete all of them. Don't mind spending a lot of time watching your own work!!!

And take photos, so anyone here can enjoy them

Great looking army. Your Avatar is fantastic. I also that you are making so many Storm Guardians. For the longest time I have wanted to run huge squads of storm guardians on foot running behind an Avatar and three wraithlords. I know they'd get smoked but it look great. I gotta ask why so many Storm Guardians? Preparations for the new book? Or do you actually run them?

Actually they're 20 storm guardians. The other 40 are Defender Guardians... I'd liked them all to be from the storm type, but they weren't cheap those days (and I was on high school still!). Plus I bought 3 metal D-cannons at the same time. No "cheapo" at all...

Back on those days, they were Black Guardians so WS 4, plus enhance Warlock to get WS5!!! That was awesome.

Now I plan on running them just as you said. Avatar and Wraithlords near them, and "mid-field objectives here we come!" I also have Karandras, which can give them a bonus through cover. I don't know if I prefer the +1WS or the 5+ cover save power from the Warlock... decisions, decisions....

WIP haemonculus -yep, another old Grotesque conversion- with Syndriq's sump, flesh gauntlet and liquifer gun (and named after the TMNT antagonist for obvious reasons*):


(still not happy with the sump flasks and definitely going to redo the lighting on the black parts, this fella was prepainted by me years ago when the previous codex came).
