New Rule Pre-order- Dark Eldar on the Front Page?

Many of you will have seen the new pre order for the next edition of 40K. Its split into 3 sections. The Rules sections illustration is a haemocules. Thoughts.

Not sure, I like it. Last set of rules appearance doesn't seem to far ago. So, why new rules?
Just to make money? Was the last edition unbalanced? There will be new codices, right?
New Space Marines? Again? I think, it's too soon for a new set of rules. Haven't even tried out all of the last book.

Don't think there is anything to see here or try to interpret, although it is nice that we get featured on the rulebook.

Haha I don't think there is much to be interpreted from it although it seems like a strange choice for GW! The opinion of my local club/friends is that a movement on to another rule book is daft. General consensus is that we're not going to get or learn a new one.

We're probably going to wait until the new Starter Box comes out for the mini rulebook in our group... and sell the minis coming with it to the people who play the respective armies featured I'm not going to pay that 65 EUR again this soon.

Although I have to admit that I like the idea of three separate books instead of that huge brick you could kill people with by dropping it from the first floor onto someones head. The artwork is nice too. I wouldn't interpret too much into the haemi though, I doubt it indicates anything. The new dex by Nov 14 that is being rumoured in another thread would be cool though.

I wouldn't want to complain, but...

I have seen the new rulebook presented a few times around the net so far, and once I saw just the other two books with the space marine-covers in it shown and just once when I saw the whole trio together, the haemonculus was only partly shown at the bottom!

Simple really. Everyone is butt hurt over the new rule book, and no entity in the 40k universe can hurt butts more than your friendly neighborhood Haemonculus.

The new FAQ for Dark Eldar actually gives you a free pain token to distribute if you're opponent has bought the new book.

i think its cool that they doing three books and including more than marines on the front. and is it a sign of things to come?

I look at this as a hopeful (?) thing for DE. Looking at it from GW's perspective, if they're featuring DE on the cover of the rulebook, they're spotlighting the army for the first-time playerbase that they generally seem to focus on. Could be indicative of a desire to generate interest in the run-up to an update.

I have reservations about how good of a thing this would be, from the standpoint of a DE fan. Who knows which special characters the GW secret police will escort to the basement, or what they'll do to beastpacks and venoms.

Three books and only one about 120 pages to carry to battle. Much better than a big 400 pages.

Ok, new rules are pretty little on updates.

What was in WD, thats pretty much all the list.

Snapshots are still BS1, Ignore Cover still ignore all of it, Jink is similiar to flyers now only 4+, Reavers got nerfed to shreds.

Assault is somewhat nerfed with -2 to distance on diff terrain.

Pretty much onme good thing for DE is 7 to explode. Not a bright release for us.

U mean we have to choose are we gonna jink? like evade of flyers? And speed did not count at all?

If i truly remember, all bykes and jetbikes got 4+ jink from turbo. We get +1 from Skilled riders.

Do you have any proof for the bold section of the quote here? Lots of sources have been giving -2 modifiers to both of those.

Personally I think Reavers actually come out of this change pretty damn good. If, and it's a big IF, other relevant rules remain the same then we now get a 2+ cover save when turbo boosting and, unlike most (any?) other unit, we can still attack whilst doing so.

He is correct. I imagine he has the book already, a bit ahead of time. I do, too.

I would say that the change is an improvement, but it's not much of an improvement because it's not much of a change. The rules don't really change much from 6th edition. There are a few changes here and there, like vehicles exploding on 7+'s (Immobilised on 6+'s, not wrecked), and D-weapons allowing cover and invulnerable saves unless they get 6+'s.

An interesting one is that there isn't a rule that says that you have to leave at least half your army on the table if you want to put the rest on reserves. Jink gives you a 4+ cover save, but you have to decide to use it before they roll to hit you and you can only do snap shots next turn, and it is not improved by turboboosting or flatouting. You only roll for Night Fighting if someone wants to, and it only counts on the first turn, not on the 5th if it wasn't the 1st or whatever it was. Battle brothers can ride on each others' transports.

The whole business of 'unbound' armies turns out to be nothing. It's just GW saying that the rules are just there, like, if you want them, man, get off the power vibe and dig the scene. Cool.

Here's hoping for a codex FAQ that reduces the Jink nerf, and/or ups the Flickerfield to a 4+.
