| Hey there,
is it possible to, say, buy a unit of 10 Wyches with a Raider and let them come through a WWP without the transport? If yes, this could be a nice way to minimize the pressure of dropping the portal asap, as if the unit arrives beofre the WWP is dropped, it comes in a Raider (and doesn't lose much mobility); if it arrives after the portal is opened, they walk through it and have their transport come from the table side.
Is this possible? _________________ Visit my project log [last update: February 10th]: The Ebon Fire

Similarly, the player must specify if any transport vehicle in reserve is carrying any of the infantry units and/or independent characters in reserve. If they do, the unit and the transport will be rolled for together and will arrive together. Remember that a dedicated transport can only be deployed, and consequently can only be kept in reserve, either empty or transporting the unit it was selected with (plus any independent characters).
It is possible to bring them separately, but if you do so, you must decide before the game, and both units are treated separately, for all purposes. So you can't decide to bring the wyches on foot and then let them come in a raider, if they arrive too soon. On the other hand you can't decide to bring them in a raider and let them come through a WWP, since vehicles can't use it and you can't disembark (or unembark) the wyches, before they arrive on the board. Besides all that they could come in from reserves at totally different turns. _________________ I must rule with eye and claw — as the hawk among lesser birds.

| I have used this trick before to buy transports to start on the table, and use the WWP to bring in the Wyches though. That worked out pretty well. _________________ The Title Troupe! - Nom fellow posters for custom titles. | |

| Hmm, but if that what Tiri Rana is true (and I do think so), tgis trick is not possible. _________________ Visit my project log [last update: February 10th]: The Ebon Fire

| It is true. Your initial trick is not possible. My trick is possible.
In my trick I would, say, buy 10 Wyches w. some upgrades and a Raider.
I would start the Raider on the board. I would leave the Wyches in reserve and bring them on footslogging through the WWP. The only limitation to Dedicated transports is that if you put a unit inside of them it has to be the one who bought the dedicated transport - and also, if you put them in reserve you have to decide right then if they are or are not in the transport. Nothing in that prevents my method. _________________ The Title Troupe! - Nom fellow posters for custom titles.

| You're both right. Kinnay's trick is not possible, because it entails changing your reserve organisation, but Thor's trick is entirely legal. It's always a good idea to buy Transports to get some additionally firepower, just keep in mind that we can't buy transports for squads too big to fit inside, that's a privilege of Space Smurfs. _________________ I must rule with eye and claw — as the hawk among lesser birds. | |

| To join their other assorted privileges of assaulting out of close topped transports, functionally ignoring morale, being able to MSU or not MSU on whim based on mission need, and having open topped vehicles not be open topped because the crew is wearing power armor.
They probably have some others I'm forgetting, but...yes. _________________ The Title Troupe! - Nom fellow posters for custom titles.
