| I don't have any photo's but i'm going to use thin gauged wire + plus green stuff for the snale body. Seperate pieces of green stuff for the ribbed underbelly and then use a kabalite chest and arms.
What's going to be interesting is the head. Concidering GS or going the easy rout with lizardmen. Could possibly use croot as well

| Here's the one I plan to use. Even has some armor and only need to modify the bow/pack and add some weapons.

| It doesn't really answer the initial question of "where do I get some cheap snake bodies?", but here's my plan:
Ever since seeing how close the Grotesque profile is to the Sslyth profile, I've been planning to represent Sslyth with Grot-looking things. As I'm focusing on a full-coven force with a Haemonculus-themed Archon leading it, I wanted to coven up his Court.
In terms of models, I'm be planning to use warmachine/hordes warspears, as used by Eye of Error, to convert the cleaner (read: less gribbly) Grotesques that will form part of the court.

| I extensively browsed GW website yesterday night, questing for a worthy model / kitbash to use as Sslyth. As I want to get 5 or 6 of them in my new Court, paying 20 CAD each is out of the question (I don't feel like a 200$+ court, to be honest...)
I finally rested on the idea of converting Necron Lychguards with Saurus heads and diverse arms. We'll eventually see the result!

| I made my own Sslyths by old botz and by using instant mould on dark elf cold one tails. Just to get the snake like scales. Here is a quick photo of a WiP model. It may not be the best conversion you've seen, but it was meant to be a quick and cheap solution. In my eyes, it looks like something done my a 10 year old, though I'm much older yet not very skilled when it comes to conversions | |

| I've actually been scouring the internet for ideas and models to use as the base for a conversion. Picked up two snake demons from reaper miniature's bones line from my local store. They were only $3 a piece so why not. I lopped off the arms and glued on a splinter pistol, shardcarbine, and 2 CCWs. Not sure if I'm going to sculpt some armor out of green stuff to make it a bit less naked and worthy of a 5+ save. Considering just cutting off the whole torso from the second one and gluing on an extra kabalite torso. The snake tail looks pretty good on its own and is probably worth the $3 in my opinion. Gonna look for more similarly sized models to use as a base so my sslyth aren't mono-posed. | |

| Haven't tried them out, was just brainstorming and thought they might be a stylish alternative. EDIT: They are actually more expensive than Sslyth (SEK410/3 Vs. SEK120), but the opening poster didn't say anything about saving money | |

| I built mine using lizardmen temple guard bodies with the beaked helmet scourge heads. I just cut the one leg off that comes attached and the bottom section of the tail. Then I attached arms to the 4 limb slots and extend the tail with a combination of bits and green stuff. They came out pretty well and the entire batch of 10 only cost me about $20. I am however excluding the kroot and lizardman arms I had in my bits box, as well as the shard carbines. You could definitely just use wych/scourge arms, maybe adding a scaly texture with green stuff, but I do like every arm only having 4 fingers.
There was a lot of work involved, so it may not be for everyone. Most of which is gap filling around the arms and balancing the model how you want it on the 40mm base. Now that I have a process though I may do another batch and run a sslyth themed army just for fun.
In my opinion they look more fitting (somehow both more nimble, and hulking at the same time) than the official model, and can be posed in just about any way depending on the tail you support them with. The plate armor does look a bit primitive though in such a high tech army.
I'm contemplating sculpting some more feathers down from the head before I paint them and going all out with bright plumage. My cabal (of the broken fang) already has a feathered serpent theme - These fit in very well.

| My approach was simpler.
1) Buy Wraithguard. 2) Make them look worn and broken. 3) Spice them up with DE Blades/Spikes/Trophies/... 4) Attach Splinter weapons on their shoulders. 5)Call them Castigators -> counts as Ssylth Done.
