| So a question popped into my mind today:
Is ID possible with an agonizer? Looking at therules for poisoned weapons it says if a lower roll would be needed to roll the lower. But that doesn't mean we are hitting at strength = user.
Scenario, an archon uses a soul trap to reach S8. He then wounds a Space Marine with an agonizer. Does that wound cause ID? | |

| I believe so.
This is the type of situation the rule is talking about when it says "if a lower roll would be needed" - a high S model using a poisoned weapon.
Looking at the big picture, it's a DE on steroids hitting a space marine really REALLY hard with something that just happens to exude poison. It's the "being hit hard enough to kill him instantly" that causes the ID, before he even gets poisoned.
Am I right? Someone out there knows better than me, I'm sure. | |

| Unless that Space Marine is Maphiston, then it would be a 2+ (S8 vs T4) re-rolling (poisoned 4+) causing Instant Death (S8 vs T4). | |

The re-roll would also be 2+, not 4+. | |

| But the agoniser has the poison 4+ special rule, not 2+ unless I missed that in the new codex

| Poison states you always wound on X+ unless a lower roll would be required. So S8 vs T4 would require a 2+ and you would still benefit from being a Poisoned attack--thus re-rolls! | |

| Yes, sorry if I was still unclear about this, S8 vs T4 does wound on a 2+, and the poisoned 4+ special rule allows you to re-roll and wound on a 2+, I simply called it poisoned 4+ (as written in the codex) rather then generic poisoned

| Grotesques (Furious Charging) is another scenario where you'd roll To Wound better than the poisoned number in some scenarios. Also reroll To Wound on those with lower Toughness | |

| The agonizer has Strength(User) so S8 Charakter with agnonizer would ID T4 enemy with 2+ reroll AP3. And yes, Poison is epic in 7th  | |
