Scourge Wings

Hey all

I'm looking forward to painting up my Scourges now that they're a must have in my army. I'm delighted to finally have a chance to get these beautiful models on the table!

I really want to be able to do them justice and I'm not sure I have a steady enough hand (or the patience) to pick out the detail on each feather.

I want the feathers to be black. Maybe a grey base, then a lighter grey highlight (or white?) and then a black ink wash to finish.

Does anyone have any tips they'd like to share?

If you're feeling shaky about your hands not being steady, do a basecoat, a wash and (gods forbid!) a drybrush/overbrush. Repeat a few times.

It'll end up looking good, much better than if you tried to pick out each detail if you weren't ready for that. There's always your second squad to try new things on

I love the Scourge models. I found the best way to do it was to spray them black, then water down some dark grey, then roughly do the edges very finely, then do a line down the middle to highlight the feather's spine.

It's time consuming, but even the rough job looks really quite nice. First model took me about 15-20 minutes just for the wings, latest ones take less than 5.
