Hello!

This is my first ever post on the forum and I'm not only new here, I'm also new to the 40k game.
I played a little bit back in 2nd - 4th edition, but with borrowed models and was never really into the game. However, since the 7th edition mission cards made me rethink my view of the game. Now it seems a lot more fun and it's not up to the biggest gun to do the most work. Now even if you lose half your army turn one, you can still score points, and win by kiting etc.
My overall idea and what I want is a mobile army, so Dark Eldar came as a natural pick.
After I was sat with friends and spoke of 40k, as we went through all the possibilities of the army, it's strengths and weaknesses, this list came to life when I got home to my man cave. And I have ordered just the things to run this list.
I'm going to post it first, and underneath talk a little bit about how I want to run it.
Why I post my ideas here is to get inputs by someone outside of my gaming group, to bring something new to my gaming community.

Before the list was created, I decided to create it with Comp in mind. This means, no more than 4 troop choices of the same kind and no more than 2 of anything else of the same kind. There are more balance parameters, though they do not effect Dark Eldar, who are seen as a "less" strong army.

Without further ado, here is the list.

Combined Arms Detachment
HQ 145p
Succubus
Webway Portal, The Arour of Misery, Archite Glaive

Elites 230p
3 Incubi
Venom w/ TL Splinter Rifle

3 Incubi
Venom w/ TL Splinter Rifle

Troops 555p
10 Kabalite Warriors w/ a Blaster
Raider w/ Disintegrator Cannon, Enhanced Aethersails, Nightshields, Splinter Racks

10 Kabalite Warriors w/ a Blaster
Raider w/ Disintegrator Cannon, Enhanced Aethersails, Nightshields, Splinter Racks

10 Kabalite Warriors w/ a Blaster
Raider w/ Disintegrator Cannon, Enhanced Aethersails, Nightshields, Splinter Racks

Fast Attack 426p
Razorwing Jetfighter w/ Dark Lance upgrades

Razorwing Jetfighter w/ Dark Lance upgrades

6 Reavers w/ 2 Cluster Caltrops, 2 Heat Lance

Allied Detachment
HQ 275p
Court of the Archon
10 Sslyths
1 Medusae

Troops 95p
5 Kabalite Warriors w/ no upgrades
Venom /w TL Splinter Rifle

Fast Attack 120p
5 Scourges w/ 4 Heat Lances

1846p

This is obviously a Sslyth bomb, the court to be web way portaled into battle with the Succubus.
This is the centre of the strategy with this list.
The second part is to fly around with 3++ jinked raiders with a lot of pew pew power to score objectives.
It's pretty straight forward, a fast moveing agile army with the tools to deal with pretty much anything.
Thoughts? Smile
Comments and critique is very much appreciated.

Im not sure you can ally yourself+this is battleforged if you take realspaceraider detach HL scourges are too risky without wwp i think scatter and you gone. Your raiders are like100 points and still wet paper tough in my opinion run them as cheap as possible. Idk what armies you play against but i often get SM and uhm SM and some SM rarely AM or Nids

There is absolutely nothing wrong with allying and playing with yourself  Wink
I don't want raiders because the raiders forces me to choose warlord traits from our codex or we lose the re-roll potential, and I don't like the traits in our codex.
But the most important point is that with this list, all my troops are out scoring!

No offence, but my humble opinion is that noone in their right mind would put a wwp with a 5 man scourge squad.
This means you use close to 100 points to get a 120p unit to location, and then you need to get whatever HQ you took wwp with out of the squad or the scourges lose their "fast" movement and will limit their movement to 6" instead of 12". And as you leave the squad with your 100 points worth HQ, you give this up for grabs to enemy shooting. I just don't see the value...
Let's do some number crunshes.
There are two out of six sides with "hit" on your scatter dice, so you have 33% success chance that your scourges will land exactly where you want them.
On the other hand, there are 4 sides with an arrow indicating a direction. Usually this means that in one out of four general directions you are "safe" to travel, not taking into account terrain. So if we take terrain and table edges into consideration I would say you have roughly 50% chance to get them close to the point you wanted.
This leaves less than 15% chance that the enemy will get to place them wherever. If you play 100 games and your opponent gets to place your portaling squads wherever they want more than the 15 times during these 100 games, you're doing something wrong.

People always argue that raiders are paper just because they aren't 14+ armor tanks... 3+ invo is, in my opinion, very resiliant. First off, your mobile units will be able to choose where to move to, and if you don't want to draw attention, don't move them into risky positions. And when a few shots are fired at them, 3+ invo will most likely keep it alive. They will probably be destroyed at some point during the game, but until that point they will have done their job and scored points and denied enough points to be worth it. In this list, there are plenty of valid targets, so what's to say that the enemy will choose to dedicate all his shooting to your raiders? I wouldn't do that myself anyway.

In my club we have, anong the regulars, 3 space marines, then there is an IG player, and necrons and sisters, we also have 2 other dark eldars, and two eldar players.
These poeple also have secondary and 3rd armies, but these are their primary forces.
In the tournament scene here space marines aren't that popular because to the average eye they are the most boring choice.
This means a lot of 3+ armor, but the amount of shots fired by the Dark Eldars usually makes up for their defensive troops.

Dark Eldar has one big weakness, and that is "ignore cover". When I face something like this, I plan to deep strike as close to his front as possible, and right inside up close if possible. The army with the most cover ignores is IG, and them I can take in close combat for sure.

I don't see any need to worry about the things you brought up, but thanks for the comment Smile
