Court of the Archon?

Ok. It is a fact that there are two interpretations of how the Court of the Archon can be played:
-As an HQ slot if you don't take an Archon, or as a non-slot unit if you do take an Archon
OR
-As a non-slot unit if you do take an Archon, or not at all if you don't take an Archon.

This thread is NOT for everyone to argue this subject again. You want to discuss it further, go post in the threads about that specific subject. I'm not even going to post my opinion 'cause that'd just start things up and I'm stubborn enough not to back down from my views. That attitude, my attitude, is exactly what I'm going to talk about.

What this thread is for is the following:

I'm asking people to respect others' interpretations.
When you read a batrep, or check out someone's army list, and they have played the Court differently from how you interpret it to work... you have ZERO need to flame them about it.
Yes, people see it differently, and you're going to run into that on the boards.
What we need to do is let them be. You want to comment on their army list or batrep? Sure, go for it! Give them all the details and input you've got churning around in that clever brain of yours.
But what you don't need to do is tell them they're doing it wrong. 'Cause they think they're doing it right. Nobody wants to have (or even worse, have to read through) a war when all they're looking for is C&C, or a simple "good read!" comment.
So leave them to play the game their way as they leave you to play the game yours.

And if, heavens forbid, you two ever meet up for a match and notice you're doing it differently, then be an adult. Solve it GW style and roll-off. Or just walk away politely and find a new opponent.

i plan to always use mine with an archon. not just because its how i interpret it, since i understand it could go either way, but because it just feels wrong to not have the boss with his minions.

Couldn't agree more. Well said Laughingcarp. If anyone wants to discuss the rules issue then we have an entire sub-forum dedicated to that. No need to bring it up anywhere else.

Because the whole point of the debate is -interpretation- of the rules. One interpretation allows it, the other does not. What's being asked is that, if you see someone who has taken the interpretation that it is permitted when you feel it's not (or vice-versa) that you don't get at them for having taken the opposite view.

Yes, but you'd probably have to do it slowly and only using short words

Lol thanks for the kind words and understanding! It's just funny how many people forget that at the end of the day it's a game. Admittedly a game that many of us have spent months worth of our salaries on. But, y'know, a game. Have fun!
