GW's advent calendar - woe is us?

I see that GW is running their advent calendar once again, leading up to Christmas. I thought we might be in line for a little surprise this year, especially since we missed out last year, but looking at the outline symbols on the GW and BL calendars, I don't think we'll get much joy this year, either.

There is a "?" that might surprise us, and a few paint pots - perhaps the forum's highly-coveted Commorraghan Purple will make an appearance?

I agree, and I've come to accept that GW doesn't like us. I'm more interested to see if Blood Angels get a LoW in their codex next, I swear I'll lose it if we were the only 7th codex with out a LoW.

Also, I do think we are loved more than Sisters - I think Sisters are the least loved army officially.
We may be a decent argument for 2nd, though mostly we suffer for rules and fluff. Oddly we are treated very nicely on models - moreso than even some other more loved armies. Go figure.

I see two fiction offerings involving the Heresy Era World Eaters. I'm a happy camper

I'm a little disappointed, partly in that I was hoping Vect would sneak into the advent calender, but also because last year the calender was more secretive and interesting.....
Still, I can hope for that question mark, though by now hope is deflated....

I have said it before but I will again - I strongly suspect we missed the LOW as the real space raiders detachment does not have a LOW or fortification space in it. GW is all about forging the narrative and the exclusion of these fits. That said, they would not release a model in the book if its not part of the racial detachment!

Unless said Dataslate/Supplement comes with a new Formation, like Waaaagh! Gazgul did.
Its still possible in my eyes, especially if Logan Grimnar and Gazghul Thraka count as LoWs these days.

I'm really hopeful for metallic green paint as I'm starting a Salamander army for 30k/40k and Vulkan would look awesome with it imo.

Don't forget amethyst purple, used that quite a bit on my skaven back in the day!

If you miss those metallics, check out Coat d'arms paints. They're basically the old, old GW range. I picked up a couple of pots of amethyst purple and I'm sure they do the other ones too.

According to faeit we're getting a mandrake painting guide and that's as much were getting on both advent calendars

Admittedly they are really cool to paint.....but if I had to pick one thing for us to get, it sure as hell wouldn't be a Mandrake painting guide  This is one of those things that they throw out there to see if anyone is paying attention

Nobody wants a 2-page story accompanied by a 5$ Altar of War mission. 5 bucks! For mission rules you'll use once 'cause they're so often utterly unbalanced! And 'Nids just got a re-release of existing rules! Not that they need anything new, but still...

That would require play testing and accepting the fact that Wyches aren't all that useable. That aren't at step one for recovery: Acceptance that you have a problem.

Mmmm. Painting guides. Nothing excites me more than paying for something miniatures websites and Youtube provides better and for free. Damn you Games Workshop! How will I survive this Holiday season without going broke!? I mean, now I'm going to have to buy miniatures I don't want just so I can buy your amazing guides to use them!
