Think we'll get anything in this 25 day advent calendar event?

Games workshop is doing a digital release every day until Christmas.

I'm a bit excited thinking we might get some sort of update, but I have a feeling I'll be sorely disappointed. What do you guys think?

I see no reason why not.

You know what I would be really interested to see come our way? An update to our flyers.... 

I do hope so. I'd especially like something cool for one of my armies on my birthday...that would be awesome.

I haven't been in this hobby long enough to know; are there any now-abandoned DE characters in the 40K universe that warrant a comeback?

Aside from those, this rumours to be a series of datasheets for the holiday bundles, providing rules for 'formations'. Of course, this could just be seen as a rule based way to trigger players into buying said bundles. Would be a nice cash grab for GW, but they're not into that.... wait.

Unfortunately, we have no holiday bundles to speak of.

The only one that really leaps to mind is Kruellagh the Vile, and that's only a name I've heard of rather than a character about whom I know anything.

There was Kruellagh the Vile, a female Archon who was the only special character to have disappeared in the transition between our dexes. Model is out of production and unless they bring it back (nooo!) or release a new one I can't see her getting a dataslate.

I also, unfortunately cannot see us getting anything else. Expect GW to work their way through all the recent bundles they've released and give them broken rules and as a treat on Xmas day, Cypher.

I guess we could also see No'akei show up again.

Filthy little rag probably still hasn't learned her lesson, Vect shall still reign supreme, I doubt any players will change their minds on that score.

Crazy idea, wouldn't benefit me either as I don't run them, but we could get an Archon on a jetbike or something.

Edit: Though if it made jetbikes a troop choice I think that'd change every list in the forum.

Mandrake Supplement with an updated Kheradrukh the Decapitator rules and model to make him quasi awesome. That would be cool enough for me xD

I have a sinking feeling that even when pressed for 25 consecutive New releases we aren't getting anything :/ or maybe just some pittance like a short story.

Their latest post on IA "if you like space marines and tanks (and why wouldn't you)"... come on gw.... really?

I had my hopes up until today. But if the advent calendar is filled to the brim with meaningless tactics and such there probably won't be any room left over to our beloved dark eldar =/
If you ask me the closet we will come is data sheets for CWE wraith units...

Hilarious! Made me laugh, had to share it with my friend who just got tabled by Tau on Friday.

But you know, I'd be happy with some kind of Harlequin update. Give me a reason to run them GW! I started trying to make a list with them this morning, it's like 300 points for a full squad.

So that's 8 holiday bundles times two releases (dataslate, then tactica), leaving us with exactly 9 days. Minus two, for Be'lakor and Cypher, so 7. There's 8 Imperial codexes, sooo....... 

Actually, a Harlequin codex might well grab some players' fancy very nicely, and comparatively easy to do a la inquisition style. Loads of harlequin fluff. Add 'Solitaire' as an HQ option that may be taken in Eldar/Dark Eldar armies; if s/he is your warlord, Harlequins become troops. May be taken as an allied detachment following the same allies matrix as Codex: Eldar. Toss in a few special rules, a warlord trait table, job's a good 'un. Wouldn't be surprised if that made an appearance.

In the meantime, the GW commercial department is running their check list:
- Are they new models?
- 2013 codex then?
- Are they fielded a lot in the current meta?
- Is it a big tank/MC?
- And most important: is it Imperial? (let's be honest here)

Not trying to be a cynic. With things like this, I don't need to try.

Obviously after the Tau formation release we have at least those other bundle deals to also get formation writeups.

Also, probably some fantasy stuff as well.

I'm pretty jaded about the event now too. But what do you guys think about the dataslates?

I'm not liking it, so far.

In my DE army I can bring an aegis defense line, an eldar ally attachment, and now thanks to the data slate I could bring two storm talons and a storm raven without any other space marine units. Or the broadsides and riptide, though they'd both be desperate allies. With the flyers I don't think that'd be much of an issue. You never know they could release vendetta or heldrake dataslates.

I'm torn because while I do like having lots of options, at some point if I use those options my dark eldar army stops looking like a dark eldar army.

You can potentially now need to turn up to game with Codex SM; Clan Raukaan supplement (primary); Codex Eldar; Iyanden Supplement (Allies); Inquisition codex (because inquisition); Codex: Tau Empire and the Battlesuit formation Dataslate; SM flier dataslate; and the new fortification book who's name escapes me. Toss in the actual 40k rulebook, and you're looking at TEN different rules documents to field your army. Enough is enough, IMO - there comes a point where it slows the game to the point of impracticality. (If you can only field one formation, then it's only 9, but still).

I play pure DE, but still have to explain everything to most other players! Venoms have how many shots...?!

But I agree, 6th Ed started brightly, but has turned to into a large unstoppable avalanche of rules and codices. I actually am pining for the good ol' days of 5th ed....!

You forgot the Lord of War slot (superheavy) so that's another rulebook.

Oh, and all the FAQs (if they ever get round to writing any more).
