| Is there any merit to having a squad of Grotesques (and an accompanying Haemonculus), all with Liquifier Guns? Either in a Raider or arriving by WWP.
Or, is it just too many points?

| That would be so-o-o expensive. If your meta features tons of 3+ infantry though, or lots of hordes, possibly worth it.
My own experience tends towards an extreme armor-heavy side of the spectrum, so it's just not an effective use of the points for me.

| It has merit, but I think for WWP only for me. And with the WWP, you only need 3-4 max as you wont be able to shoot all of them at one target 99% of the time if you had 6-7 of them. You could say it would be nice for Overwatch, but not many people want to charge Grots to begin with and that becomes compounded with them having flamers as well.
I could see it be a nice hello for IG blobs or something of the sort.

+1 to this. I am of the opinion that assault units and shooting weapons do not mix very well. Even one inch lost during a shooting phase of such a unit can lead to a failed charge thus rendering the unit worthless for one more turn or can be proved to be fatal for them...

| Ok, thanks for the replies. It did seem like a dubious strategy, but since several of my Grotesques have been modelled with guns, I thought I might as well ask. | |

| Playtest, dude! What's the price of potentially losing one game in exchange for firsthand experience and knowledge, plus hilarious amounts of fun? I've run the Grotesquerie with one unit having 3 LG vs Tyranids. Those Liquifier Guns by themselves killed 10 Termagants, a Venomthrope, then 18 more Termagants before the charge wiped the rest of the 30-model blob. I probably wouldn't put 3 LG on there again, maybe only 1 or 2, but man was that fun! | |

| 3 Grots with LG /w a WWP HQ could be fun though and tough to ignore and take down. Insta threat. | |

Well, a couple of points: 1) My group doesn't get to play very often, so when we do I try to make them good games. 2) We generally do 2v2s - so if my list is crap, I'm also potentially ruining the game for my partner. - fredpower wrote:

Sadly, there are quite a lot of 2+ saves in my games. Along with 2+ rerollable saves, 2++ saves, 3++ saves and various other delights.

| I personally dislike having units sit in one place and do nothing, which is exactly what happens when you wwp deep strike Grotesques in, unless you give them liquifiers! When I play Grotesques I only bring LGs when I'm deep striking them then only two or maybe three at most. If I'm not deep striking then I never bring them. Just my two pain tokens. | |

| I run one with the Grots and one with the Haemi toting the WWP. I'd rather the Haemi carry it than one of the Grots because of the S5(6 with FC) poisoned attack that you lose. I've had pretty damned good results with them against MEQ and hordes giving them a decent shooting attack that helps to draw attention to the unit. I use the Grot bomb as a distraction unit that needs to be dealt with so my more fragile units can score objectives. I realize my tactic isn't for everyone, but I have found the point investment worthwhile. | |
