Male Wych turned Archon - possible?

As per title.

I'm a fluff gamer. Always have been, always will be. As such, I absolutely must create fluff for my forces - and especially for my characters (even Sergeant-type characters!).

The direction I'd like to take is that my current Archon was once a member of a noble family that was cast out of a broken kabal during Vect's ascendancy and left to die in the arena. Only he survived the arena and became a male Wych. Over time, sensing that males were not able to advance in power through the Cult, he either created (is this even possible?) or entered a kabal and began his rise to power.

This is the path I'd like to take. The Wych King, so to speak. On the tabletop, he'd be fielded as a Succubus with his combat stats representing his Wych "heritage" and his supposedly sub-par Ld9 representing the (slight) distrust of a recently annointed Archon and the fact that he was 'merely a Wych.'

Plausible? I understand that it's my fluff and I can do whatever I'd like, but I'd much rather travel the Path of Dembski-Bowden than Goto.

Vraesque Malidrach worked his way up from Reaver to Archon, so I don't see much problem with a male Wych doing the same.

A Kabal I've been working on for a while has this very concept.

I too went with the idea that there'd be no real chance for improvement or a spot of true power. It's a feasible and ambitious idea, and something that any Wych could aspire to do.

Go for it. I'm glad we've both had the same thought. It just shows that it's a good story if more than one person thinks of it.

Do either of you feel that there's a problem with him coming from a splintered kabal? Or do you think I should rework that? I know that kabals can be absorbed by other kabals, but can one really ever be eradicated? I think the codex mentions that it's nigh impossible with Vect as the exception.

I'd not only agree that it is possible, but I've also picked up on a similar idea myself, so like you and Cavash I'd have to say great minds

I don't see why anyone with ambition would be happy to just go with the status quo, and any Dark Eldar worth the name isn't going to just accept other people's limitations happily! As for Kabals they can rise and fall - the changing fortunes of the various Kabals make up a huge chunk of Dark City politics and again, I see no problem with an ambitious Dark Eldar wanting to create their own. Many Kabals began lower down the social hierarchy. Vect himself, after all, according to one version of his background, used to be a slave.

Can anyone get rid of a Kabal? I think you'd have to kill every last member and possibly anyone they knew to be sure. But then, Dark Eldar have no problems with a massacre, either. They're also good at escaping ... I'd say in balance it's theoretically possible. But if I'd been the Archon responsible, I probably wouldn't ever stop looking over my shoulder.

Love the concept. I'm all about the fluff too and feel the same need to create a background for my army. Like the "Wych King" name and idea of his rise from the sands to the spires...
