| So, in the main rule book, on pg. 24, bottom of the page, left side, "... no unit can attempt to manifest the same psychic power more than once per psychic phase." What does this mean? Example, I recently played a four player game (holy crap, turns are loooonnggg) and one player was running an Unbound Nurgle Army, consisting of 8 Great Unclean Ones, each it's own unit. How many Iron Arms can be cast each psychic phase? Once (and only once, hence the above rule) per unit? Or once only for the whole of his army? Thanks | |

| As it says, "per unit" so in your example they'd be able to attempt the manifestation eight times. | |

| The real question concerns one unit containing two or more independent psykers. Do each psyker get to use iron arm? Or just one of them. I know many would count each individual psyker as an independent unit in itself. | |

| Are there units by default that have more than one character? I'd RAW and if the opponent put two of his ic psyker with his c psyker i wouldn't feel too sorry for him. | |

| If you have two ICs in a single unit, each one cannot attempt to manifest the same psychic power. (Unless one leaves during the movement phase.) | |

This ^^. I've seen this come up a lot and indeed some tournaments even rule that multiple characters in the same unit can cast the same power but there is zero basis in the rules for that and it seems to be based on a poor reading of the relevant sections of the rules and/or pure wishful thinking, almost certainly by someone who plays/played Seer Council.

| While there is zero basis in the rules for that I can understand why people are extremely unhappy with this poor rule. You are basically wasting points on a psyker who can't actually cast a single spell. But then again the whole PSI mechanic is very poorly designed. | |

| I'd argue well designed but poorly written/explained. I agree that multiple psykers in the same unit can't attempt to manifest the same power multiple times. Which makes pink horrors and heralds of tzeentch oh so sad... | |

| Well designed? Go big or go home. Why would you even bother to bring a single psyker? So armies with only a small array of psykers or expensive psykers (elite armies) get shafted as it is absolutely irrelevant if your 2 additional dice come from a 50 or a 150 points model. Only difference is that the cheaper army get way more dice.
Using Witchfires is punishing. They just feel like a shooting attack that has double chance to miss and allows for more saves while buffs are WAY stronger, do not need to hit and are harder to deny. Thats why no one ever goes for pyromancy but would sacrifice their firstborn to get telepathy.
The entire phase is not regulated. Totally coll to fight a 40 dice Tzeentch army. You can go to the cinema until your opponent is done with his book keeping and I guess you can watch the lates walking dead episode while he is doing his psychic phase.
The phase is not interactive. Needing 6 to do anything, you basically sit and wait till its over. Not that your 3 dice will do anything for you.
There is no structure. Best example of this is when you summon a greater daemon but peril and die.
Sorry. But the phase is not well designed. A "matured" Fantasy magic system would have been "well designed". Mages are powerful but do not get to stupid levels and even if you have none of your own you still participate in the phase.
