So, several years(as in almost a decade ago) as an excited youth, I purchased a Chaos Land Raider, with every intention of making it part of a Thousand Son army.
However, it proceeded to sit there, partially built, for many lamentable years.
Then, about 3 years ago, a burst of inspiration! I'll paint a Loyalist Marine Force. Dark Angels! No, Angels of Redemption! I hadn't painted a 40k model ever at this point. Results were as to be expected.

And then, in a bout of obsessive eBay purchasing, a LR Achilles conversion kit. YESSSS!
Now my Land Raider will have purpose!

My interest in the Unforgiven waned, and my painting ability was not progressing.
Again my Land Raider lamented.
Then I discovered the paint stripping abilities of Dettol! Magic! Gone would be the pathetic paint scheme, onward to greater things!!

Then I read "Architect of Fate" (good book, btw) and my new idea- Star Dragons Chapter! I was confident it would work out for me and my Land Raider.....
Now, the astute amongst you have no doubt noticed a few things- I take hopeless pictures, sponsons are never attached, the model never seems to get beyond base coat and I have the attention span of small mammal. All true. But some of those things will change.
Then, I discovered Commorragh. And my eyes were opened. Then quickly removed and the flesh flensed from my face.
Anyway, this seemed to improve my painting skills, and a Dark Eldar army was built.
Again, my Land Raider lamented. Unloved. Alone in a drawer.
Finally, inspiration struck. After reading "Siege of Castellax", "Storm of Iron", "Angel of Exterminatus" as well as other HH books, I decided to paint up some Iron Warriors.
Then, the Four Powers intervened- IA13 was released! Achilles can be taken by CSM!
The Time of Lamentation was over.
Years and years later, my Land Raider is coming home. And with the "Tzenak the Occluder" legacy of ruin, I can even give it a Tzeentch theme, honoring its origins.
The Call of Chaos has proved irresistible.
