| Hey all! I'm looking at the agoniser and thinking "Sure, the whip is cool. But surely an Archon, tyrant and overlord of a great many people and castes would have the means to make a fancy weapon."
So, what other types of agonisers are there out there in the vast breadths of Commorragh? I wish to do some converting.

| The old(er) codex says the most common forms are whips and barbed gauntlets, but an agoniser can look like pretty much anything you want. In the old range, in addition to whips, we had bladed gauntlets, a big freaking claw, and a trident-like thing. I used one of Drazhar's blades to give my Archon a scythe style agoniser (because I didn't care for the trident-like thing). | |

| With a little converting, this could work... | |

| My Archon has a Venom Blade (from the Scourges), which I'm proxying as a sword-shaped Agonizer. I can also use it as a Power Sword if I need to. Or, if the next codex actually gives back that option, I could use it as an actual Venom Blade. | |

| Why do you use venom blade? It seems to be that you wound on the same as with a huskbkade, only the huskblade is instant death? | |

| I'm guessing he means the model of the venom blade rather than equipping an actual one. Venom blades are poisoned (2+) though. | |

| Yes, it means everyone gets their normal armour save against it. The trade off is that wounding becomes far more reliable, so against characters that would get a save against the huskblade (2+ armour or those with an invulnerable save, particularly something like a storm shield) the venom blade can be better simply by forcing more saves to be rolled. | |

I probably wouldn't give him a Venom Blade now, even if the codex allowed it. But it's nice to have multiple options without replacing the weapon on the model.

| I use an old school Eldar powerfist. I've saved these over the years and bought them on ebay when they are not too expensive. Great looking bit and something I wish they'd give back to Storm Guardians. | |

| That's nice clean painting there! The blue stands out nicely! I'm liking all these renditions of agonisers! | |

| spot the nightwing shadow in the background of that photo though - now there's a nice looking eldar flyer! (Not quite as nice as the razorwing, but remarkably similar in many respects) | |

| Thanks guys! Yep thats my Nightwing casting that shadow.. @The_Burning_Eye I agree with your on the Razorwing being a better looking model... which is why I'm converting two of them to nightwings! But back to the OP I basically feel just about any CC weapon can proxy for agonizers or any other special piece of CC wargear. | |

| Fair enough. I wasn't sure what level of WYSIWYG I needed to go for!! I've found what i want to use as the base for it, now if you guys have seen any really cool looking painting ideas that I could draw some inspiration from, that'd be really awesome! | |

| Well, my own obviously, haha!
My best advice would be pick a main colour you are happy painting a lot of and start from there...

| [EDIT, i posted the pic earlier..]
My painting query is in regards to the specific type of weapon. As I'm still new to the DE and 40k world, how would electrical energies react with this weapon. I assume, seeing that it's not a "toxin coated whip", that it would need to be more electrified than a regular power weapon.
Unless you guys have any better ideas, I'm all ears(or, rather, eyes)!

Unless you guys have any better ideas, I'm all ears(or, rather, eyes)! According to fluff, the Agonizer itself is made out of poisonous materials. Therefore, I would suggest painting it as a poison weapon first and then adding electricity effects on top.

"Common whip" as in how GW paints them? Yes, pretty much.
