Yriel vs Autarch

So when it comes to Eldar allies, I have been taking a regular Autarch with just a Fusion Gun and calling it quits. I like this guy for the Melta and the Reserve manipulation. However, after a while I have been wanting more out of him and in some of my lists, I would like to throw him in with my Grotesquerie Formation to lead one pack of Grots, but the regular Autarch just doesn't cut it in CC and has little to add outside of Soulshrive.

However, Yriel is an Autarch and has some good CC ability. Fleshbane, Armorbane, AP 3 Spear that can also be thrown 12'' with 5 attacks on the charge at WS 6. Plus his Eye attack can be nice to clear out units who have bunched up. I know it hits my friendly units as well with it being Str. 6 AP 3, but if he is with Grotesques, it hurts them on 3's and they have multiple wounds with FnP to boot so the effect on them isn't very much.

Problems I see with him is he is 60pts more than a normal Autarch, no Haywire Grenades (I don't know why..), and only brings AP 3 and not AP 2 to the unit.

What are your thoughts on him? Worth his points or would those extra 60pts be better used somewhere else?

I'd say go with the cheaper Autarch, but I'm pretty anti-Autarch to begin with, so my opinion is fairly biased.

I would use an Autarch. Yriel isn't a bad character, but he can't have a jetbike, Laser Lance or Reaper Launcher.

I know he cant have any of those things. I want to run him with Grotesques in a Raider as their support character. A regular Autarch cant take a Reaper Launcher or Lance without the Bike, which he cant take being inside of the Raider.

I find his options without a bike are rather bad. I have thought about a Power Axe on an Autarch and Fusion gun, but losing out on his Int 6 I don't think is worth it. Plus Yriel has Flesh and Armorbane to attack anyone or anything.

Massaen that's what I get for right-clicking on army builder when looking at him! That helps a bit more!

That's true for the Laser Lance, but he can still have the launcher while on foot.
It can fire pinning shots, which is very helpful for Dark Eldar assault units. Not if he is part of the assault unit though...

Nope again - the reaper launcher the autarch has access to does NOT have pinning missiles...

Yes, you're right. I guess that really does make the Autarch an invalid choice.
