Why does the Sslyth carry a splinter pistol

I'm sure there is a reason, I just cant figure out why. Why does the Sslyth carry a splinter pistol? If I understand the rules right: 3 base attacks, +1 for pistol or ccw, +1 for the charge= max 5 attacks. They wouldnt get 2 additional attacks for having both ccw and pistol right? And they already carry the carbine which is assault

The shard carbine doesn't count as a CCW, only pistol and actual CCW are used to determine if you get a bonus attack for two weapons.
That's the reason, why standard SM don't get a bonus attack (don't question it, your mind will turn to pulp )

But you can shoot and assault in the same turn anyway with the shard carbine, why do you need a pistol too? You can't shoot both on the same turn

shoot with the carbine, then use the pistol to pistolwhip mofo's in combat.
