Sorry they aren't true battle reports. I wasn;t recording anything -but thought I'd type in the results anyway.
My younger brother had just moved into his first house and wanted a game on his new board. So I grabbed my metal case which I knew had some darkeldar in and went round. I was limited to what I could take as an army to what was inside the one case (mostly my older models). It was only a 4x4 board - so we chose 1000pts armies.
Going from memory
Dark Eldar
Archon - huskblade, Soultrap, shadowfield, combat drugs
Succubus - power weapon
10 warriors - blaster splinter cannon
10 warriors - blaster splinter cannon
10 wyches - hekatrix agoniser, razor flails, shardnet
10 wyches - hekatrix power weapon, razorflails, shardnet, haywire grenades
Ravager
Cronos
Blood angels
Death company tycho
chaplain
5 or 6 deathcompany
deathcompany dreadnought
10 tac squad (split) missile launcher
5 tac squad in razor back
5 scouts heavy bolter
baal predator flamer and heavy bolters
predator (basic)
When we deployed I got worried. He seemed to have almost as many troops, and yet had 4 vehicles. I knew I'd have to be careful. The board was wooded but very open in the centre.
Game 1 - Dawn of war, objectives x4
BA went first. Even though the night fight rules were in place - he rolled 10's and 11's on the dice for range, so never once failed. I took casualties but nothnig serious. In my turn despite night vision I did little.
I decided to hold back. The middle board was too open, and with a baal flamer predator, regualr pred and razorback - it was too much firepower to walk into. I thinned down the scouts protecting an objective to just the heavybolter. he hid out of sight for the rest of the game still holding it. The Ravager shooting was mediocre - but although it never destroyed anything, it did stop vehicle firing by shaking them. That was good enough. The Cronos got some early hits in and handed out pain tokens, giving wyches much needed FNP.
The death company charged the cronos, but the slowly lost a man each turn. The death company dread ignored the cronos (big mistake) and charged my wyches with succubus. Not realising they all had haywire grenades. the first grenade I rolled hit, penetrated, and blew it up. The explosion killed 3 wyches but it was more than worth it.
The other squad of wyches led by archon split from him and charged the marines that hopped out of a shaken razorback, Killing them all. The Archon charged Tycho - but for 3 turns neither one caused a wound (despite +1 S from drugs). Tycho did finally fall and get sucked into the soul trap. The succubus and Wyches helped the talos and killed the chaplain and remaining death company. By now he never had any troops left and could not contest mine as his vehicles were immobile.
2 objectives to 1. DE victory.
My brother was gutted about losing - and he did make major mistakes. So asked for a rematch. I obliged.
Game 2 - Spearhead? (quarter board deployment) objective in each deployment.
Dark Eldar first turn.
With this mission I knew I had to advance Otherwise best I'd get would be a draw. I left my two warrior squads protecting my objective and advance. With quarter board deployment - I could use the terrain better to advance. I did take a risk though and ran my Wyches and succubus directly up the middle un protected.
Blood angels held Baal, death company dread and predator in reserve. The scouts were a bit advanced, and got shot up badly. The last member (heavy bolter again) retreated to his own objective to hold it so the rest of theforce could advance.
Blood angels dallied a little and did nothing major. I carried on advancing running wyches and succubus(with haywire grenades) after the razor back that had advanced. The archon and other wyches had got close to his quarter, when a baal predator decided to arrive and flame the lot. When the heat had died down, the Archon and Hekatrix was all that remained. The death Company dread arived and made a bee line for the cronos, attempting to put right its mistake. It didn't take long and the cronos was a crumpled mess. It had managed to dish out some paintokens though befor falling.
The succubus and wyches rampaged through the tac squads from the razor back (thanks to extra attack from drugs), and then split. The succubus then split and charged the scout guarding their objective. However for 3 assaults she failed to kill him. She finally managed it just in time as the deathcompany dread had joined them and with its only wounding hit, cut her in half. However she had performed her role of denying the blood angels their own objective. All other troops that could capture had been killed.
The Archon was charged by the death company and chaplain. Despite him slaying the chaplain and capturing his soul, and the hekatrix felling another. The return attacks were too much and they both fell. My brother was pleased. The rest of the game was spent with my brother trying to advance towards my objective and deny it. However my 2 squads of warriors were well armed to defend against all targets (poison wepons or blaster)and denied them. The game then ended.
1 v 0 DE victory.
My brother was gutted about losing both games, and with my list i was surprised to have won.
I think I should have saved points and got some transports. Although in my case there was only 1 raider. I wanted to squeeze in hellions - but now I think they would have died with no cover.
The haywire grenades in wyches were very useful. First time i'd tried it. I think I'll try and put them in both - even if it means taking out their special weaopns. Makes them really versatile. Archon and huskblade was ok - but too expensive. Especially at 1000pts. And I kept missing my attacks.
Warriors were nice and cheap. Didn't do a lot - but held the objectives - and that was what it was about.
