Help with an Arthas colour scheme

Hi all

I am terrible at painting. My first lot of DE (back when I was 14, second/4th ed) ended up as very red warriors holding black guns with pink faces and silver blades. I recently got pretty OK at drybrushing, and think I can handle some highlighting.

I want to go for the standard edged armour for my new guys. Totally new army, time to make them look good.

So I want a simple colour scheme, some sort of base colour, an edging colour, (maybe a highlight colour), silver for the blades, black for the guns (with the edging colour for the visible energy cores, etc) and a flesh colour I cant frak up.

And the colour scheme I want is a cold one. I want the undead warriors of the Warcraft King of the Frozen Throne, Arthas. I want icy blues, and pale skin. Maybe i would stretch to going more Aiur/Protos blue and going full archon mode.

Can anyone suggest any colours?

I feel like if your blue is too light, it creates conflict with the light skin.
You should consider using a darker color as contrast.

Like the skin on that, but as for the blue, well I was going more of this



But more Icy, like its spent 10,000 years frozen. The blue on that is a little too dark. I know I run the risk of loosing the contrast, but I dont mind having darker skin.

The main armour colour would be black, and then edged with the lighter blue.

iPaint has some more designs and thats what I am going for http://www.theindependentcharacters.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1760&start=40 but colder.

A bit of my Kabal back story, after a successful raid on a craft world, some time shortly after Vect came to power, but before he completely unified the DE (Yes, yes, i know about the wyches etc), the kabal jumps back into the webway, only to have their navigation matrix and stabilization fields fail. Exposed to the outer regions of the twisting, unstable sub-plane, and in a panic, they activate the time dilation device they captured. From the outside, their ships only spent a few years traversing the outer regions, before they ended up back in more stable regions, but for the crew, unprotected to the ravages of the webway, the decades they spent in their own frame of reference meant they were protected (able to endure the destructive effects being forced upon them) but were frozen. Literally frozen. Their once illustrious dark purple livery now a pale blue, or icy white. The poisons in their guns froze too, and now the shards feel freezing cold instead of burning hot. Its all fluff of course, and it totally screws with the real lore, but frak that.

EDIT: in fact, I wouldnt mind their skin being a little more grey, like frost bitten tissue.

I fully support the idea for this color scheme. I'm not good at recommendations but why black armor? I feel like a dark grey would fit Arthas more than pure black. Or maybe dark gray on the parts the light would shine on and black at the darkest points?

Dark grey is fine. I was going with the idea that they wore purple and black armour like the one above (which is blue of course, but imagine purple), then had it fade. I guess the black would fade too. I just dont know what colours to get >.<

Hows this for an idea?

"Abaddon Black" Undercoat (as per usual, gives some darkness to the bits I dont get to in the cracks)

"Mechanicus Standard Grey" Armour (also the plates on the ships, etc)
"Kantor Blue" or "Altdorf Guard" edging on the Armour and Plates (also on the thin bits, like cockpit frames)
"Lothern Blue" highlight on the edges (for that extra icy and vibrant feel!)

"The Fang"/"Rakarth Flesh" for any skin
"Fenrisian Grey" skin highlights, for the cheekbones, ears, round the eyes, just a light (very) dry, drybrush

"Fenrisian Grey" hair
"White Scar" hair highlights

"Lothern Blue" eyes
