Hello everybody while I've read tons of the posts this is my very first!
But back on topic, I am just getting back into 40k and plan on building what I hope to be an effective, mobile and fun army.
Only have a kabalite skysplinter and an archon for the moment but I plan on developing this.
What I was thinking was for the first while to get another 2 or 3 troops and transports, for this I was thinking 3 kabalites and 1 wych squad, 10 each in a raider with the kabalites as the main body while using the wychs as a tarpit for anything I can't shoot to death.
From here on I am not too sure, I know that my local group will be playing armies such as grey knights, blood angles, space wolves and chaos space marines so I will definitely have the advantage of mobility and I think it could be a good idea to maximise this?
Due to this I think developing to realspace raiders detachment kind of force would be optimal for this by capitalizing on the DE's infamous speed and the 6 FA give me flexibility to use so many of our good options.
Since none of them are tank lovers (well at the moment) they are looking to field mainly infantry but some transports and dreadnoughts so I don't need heavy AT I don't think.
That's the end goal.
At the moment what I have thought of would be something like this:
- Archon (if I get grots/sslyth as a bodyguard and give him shadowfield, huskblade + soul trap, otherwise a blastarchon + clonefield)
- x2 Grot squads or Grots + Sslyth (depends whether I find my friends develop armies more vulnerable to shooting or assault)
- x4 Kabalite squads (10 units) in a Raider with Splinter Racks + Dark Lance
- Wych squad (10 units) in a Raider
- Scourges (8 units, 4 Haywire)
- Reavers + Caltrops
- Razorwing
- x3 Ravagers or x2 Ravagers + Talos squad of 2
This is no where near finished and has empty gaps for now but that's why I am asking what could I fill them with or would you change anything I have there?
Please let me know what you think, I know my space wolf friend is aiming more for an assault army with supporting fire power if that fails while the grey knight player loves the idea of the deep strike that they can do.
Any help would be appreciated
