PLEASE HELP, Need to make the right choice.

I have a WraithKnight, I want it to be Dark Eldar look.

I have some Ideas Im playing with, both are cool, but IDK what one be better....

Remember it is a "Jump" GMC, Tho it may not be in the Future I still Like the idea of it (just will say its for looks in 2-5yrs if Eldar gets FAQ/redone again)

1) Raider Sails and Engines and maybe with Reavers Bike parts to make a Jetpack/Wings
2) Make the Legs have (If you seen the Mario Live Action Move you know what Im talking about) Booster Boots, or Jump Boots, also like on Gundam Models.
3)Place lots of Small Booster Engines on Legs/Arms/Back
4) Make it Coven, use Green stuff/paper/pipes/wires/etc... to make it a Giant Grot/Talos so to say, I love the idea of this, and is my favorite personally, but I also dont like it at the same time.

So Those are my options please help me with some votes/comments. You can vote for more than one, I can always mix/match some things.


If there are many Votes for... lets say, Coven + Small Boosters, He will be a Coven that has small boosters.. I just dont want to mess up and pick what is the most Awesome

To be honest, I HATE the idea of a large Coven monster being our big creature. I just don;t like it.
We already have a Gort as a bigger Wrack, so now we're talkign amonster thats just a bigger Grot? I think DE can be more imaginative than that.

So my vote goes for a retro sails/backpack look, and my suggestion is to take the sails to a bit of an extreme. Something like a cross between solar sails and insect wings which can fold down or raise up for flight.

I can Understand about the Coven look, I think it be really good/cool looking (But Like I said I also Dont like the idea of it). So Im thinking I might not go with the Coven look. Tho if MANY people think its to good not to, I can do a Mock look and post pics.

I was thinking a Jetpack with 2 sets of the Smaller Sails to give it the Folded look.

I can also make REALLY good looking wings (Folded or not) from making over 40 sets on my Tyranids using Spurs/Wire and tape (the yellow/tan packing scotch tape, it has a more organic look so for sails/wings it works great and even paints well).

When I was reading your post, initially my thought was like a giant scourge. Wings, a must! They will have to be big to move such a big model.

I wondr if the Raider ail would look cool as a bat wing under the arms of the Wraith Knight?

I like the gundam model concept for rocket boots. makles no sense that it can float around without help. Its own weight would be a serious detriment to its long term durability without them..

I would go for the wings. A giant Talos would look cool, but just seems too much work to convert using only a Wraith Knight and Green Stuff.

Nah, not much work, I actually like conversions alot and the process of them.

Sure, but I couldn't really see a vanilla Wraith Knight remodeled into a Coven monster effectively. There are other models that would provide a much better base for a conversion like that: Soul Grinder, Ghorgon, Necrosphinx, Hell Pit Abomination, Boneripper, or bits from more than one of those.

Think of it was its a Wraithknight, that Dark Eldar stole and drug enhanced it up.

The idea was use Green stuff in all the Joints, add muscles over lapping some parts, redo the head alittle and take some Talos bits for things here and there.

Wraith Knights are machines though. The only organic part is the living pilot inside the chest.
Coven creations are usually living beings, mutated into a certain shape, outfitted with bionics and with some additional body parts attached where they don't necessarily belong. For the Haemonculi, body parts and machine parts are pretty much the same and totally interchangable. But parts that are both organic and mechanical at the same time, or just adding living flesh to machinery makes for a look that is more typical for Daemon engines.

I voted for the Wings/retro jump pack. Giving it Scourge like wings and a jump pack just appealed to me in concept.

@ Rokuro: I dont see why it matters on a cool idea that I dont care if it fits fluff or not. The point is to look cool and still be a Wraithknight.

A lot seem to like Wings/jets.

For that matter; the "Wraith Knight" I'm currently working on is an armored Kharybdis. And that I'm actually going to make fluffy.
On the table, as long as it's a big enough model equipped with the right weapons, anything goes.

Adding wings is definitely the easiest way to make a Wraith Knight look Dark Eldar. Of course, you can still add Green Stuff flesh too.

I voted for wings. I don't think a giant jump pack would be a good look for it. I'd love to see it posed crouching with wings unfurled as if it's about to leap and swoop... Will you be taking off all the little Eldar gems and stuff? I'd suggest that, though it might be quite time consuming. Adding blades and/or spikes on the forearms might work quite well too, kind of like a scaled up kabalite warrior sort of look.

I was only taking off Eldar Markings, tho Not gems, B.c DE do too have gems (Soul gems, You see them on some models like Incubi).

There is another Idea I have.

I have 2 Drop Pods I got for free (they are all broken up really badly, Un fixable).

I was thinking Having him Jumping on/over a Crashed 1/3 of a drop pod. What you think of that?

I think a lot of peeps like the wing idea because its organic. Creatures of the Dark Kin are created with flesh enhancements.

Let's see if i can still add some ideas.
For wings, i like avian wings over insectoid/bat wings, although i don't know if that would be doable.

I'd also like a coven knight.(i have Wraith Guards as Grotesques and am quite happy with them, even though they are not painted yet)
How about an anti-grav pod instead of legs? The whole thing on a flying base, like a Talos.

Anyway, Spikes! Spikes make everything Dark Eldar
A final note:
If i ever make a wraith knight, i'm planning to apply green stuff on the larger gems to turn them into shards.

Yes, i was just going to Take a File/knife and etch out a gem shape for soul shards.

How about Great Castigator idea - lots of broken soul stones all over the body, model already has them, you just need to decorate them. CHains etc. Lots of cracks on surface.

Too look like its captured and tortured beyond all hope creature. Maybe 2 glaring giant red eyes on its head. Or 3. Or 4. Coven freehand somewhere on its body, big and not exactly on the right place, placed to show who it belong too, rather then placed as a decoration.

All those wings and the rest may look cool, but it doesnt fit anywhere in the fluff. I mean, come on, Flying Wraithknight? And most of the people will just see oh, Raider Sail? Cool.

Its a Jump GC, it has the Jump special rule, most Jump units have Wings or a Jet pack looking thing, DE Scourge has wings.

So yes it fits just fine witht he fluff. A Large GC will need assistance when jumping.

1st one and 2nd on (they go together) Ive seen before and I dont like at all... its just Flesh as a really bad back flare (flare as in eye candy)

The 3rd one (Soul Grinder torso) Without the wings that make a good Coven conversion. I would take off the wings and Put on Nagash Wings or Dragon wings from the vampire lord in WHB.

The 4th one Wouldnt be bad if they wasnt just Glued right onto.... He but no effort into it.

My idea was reconstruction... nothing glue on.

Yeah, not a big fan of the wings in those pictures. I kinda Invision big tyrant wings. It has to be proportional

After making 4 sets of different wings and (Not really likely them at all, also the size to to big) I decided to go with Retro Jets, Will post pic soon.

too bad Wraith Knights are hideously ugly models fro the get go.
