| What do people think about this? It seems like it might be (maybe) a viable alternative to some of our actual HQ options. | |

| Are you thinking Abberation w/ Agoniser? What Warlord Traits do the army sacrifice to give him? His 6+ armour save is a downer too..... | |

| He's a character, so he can still have a Warlord trait, can't he?
And no, probably Scissorhand.
EDIT: Just checked. As long as the Warlord is a char, he gets a warlord trait. Doesn't have to be HQ.

Is it? I guess the trait re-roll bonus comes from a detachment, not a slot (i.e., HQ or not)

Yes you do. The reroll applies as long as your warlord is from the detachment that provides the reroll (eg CAD).

| Well, if you take a Coven Aberration then he's fearless from turn 2 onwards - so Ld should rarely be an issue.
I dislike the idea on general fluff principles, but aside from that it seems solid.

| Hmmm... if you rolled on the personal traits table and gave him It Will Not Die, that would be pretty boss. | |

| Alternatively, roll on the Coven PfP chart - then you can potentially get IWND for his squad, too. | |

| Might be a great idea to magnetize the neck just so you could give it the head of (insert name of chapter master/warboss/etcetcetc). He/She will need a charming face to lead those lesser grotesques right?

| You only get the reroll if it's an independent character. Which it isn't | |

Again, the reroll is granted by the Ideal Commander rule or the specific detachment rule that replaces it, such as the Realspace Raider rule in our own detachment. It is not tied in any way to the Warlord being an IC.

| Depends on matchup. My abberations frequently eat challenges, and I don't care if they die. Choosing them as warlord changes that calculus, especially considering the only other option is often something that will get ID'd out (haemonculus or succubus).
Of course, I mostly run DA, so that choice is easy.
