| Out if interest, with regard to WISIWIG, does this stretch to characters? I ask because I'm curious as to how you'd go about representing stuff like Clone Fields and Shadow Fields. | |

| You can get a second one out of the Dark Lance. | |

I ask because I'm curious as to how you'd go about representing stuff like Clone Fields and Shadow Fields. We require WYSIWYG for organized play, but upgrades with no bits obviously don't require any portrayal (Clone Fields, Stimulant Injectors, etc)

| Clone Field requires you to buy and paint 3 identical models of the character equipped with it.

| I've had an opponent claim that if I didn't model all the grenade bits on my models they didn't have grenades. Likewise with tactical marines and their pistols. | |

| I actually purchased some Blasters and extra weapons for Scourges from Ebay. So I can build Archon with Blaster, Blaster Trueborn and one Blaster in each Warrior unit. Then I will build 4 Scourges with Haywire Blasters and 4 With heat Lances. | |

| I know I did that trick on my last army. But the thing is I like things to look perfect. And when you have Blasters and Shreblasters in the same army they look too different. | |

| I am currently looking at a list for my army. And I was wondering, do you use any upgrades on your vehicles?

| I only buy night shields on Raiders, some with Lances and the Splinter Cannon on my venoms. | |

| Currently I have 5 Venoms, 1 Raider, 1 Razorwing and 1 Ravager. Venoms have Spliner cannons, Raider night shield and splinter racks. What to do with flyers and Ravager?

| My raven got lances (you can never have enough), otherwise, I keep it cheap. | |

I usually take Dark Lances on Raiders if I can afford them. If I'm taking 10-man warrior squads in raiders, then I'll always give said raiders splinter racks. Night Shields are too expensive for my tastes. I might take them on an important Raider, if I have spare points. But, I don't have spare points. Enhanced Aethersails I've taken on grotesque-raiders on occasion, but in all honesty I don't think I ever used the extra 6". I never take any of the other equipment.

| On razorwing missiles and scourge weaponry it really doesn't matter that often if its not a lance or disi cannon. Opponents don't often know what the other weapons in our arsenal look like.. monoscythes vs necrotoxins vs shatterfields. I haven't found a player yet who's called me out on having the wrong missiles modeled. Same with scourges and here I'm gonna let a cat out of the bag to anyone I know reading this: all my HWB scourges are actually armed with shredders! | |

| I put DL on Raiders every time if possible.
Chain snares and Grisly Trophies are sometimes a point filler.
I've never seen the need for the Enhanced Aethersails.

| How do you feel about Mandrakes, and Scalpel squadron? I just read about it. Wracks are usually not my cup of tea but that formation sounds really cool.

| Might include the Scalpel: I love them in normal lists, but I'm not sure how resilient the smaller wrack squad would be.
Mandrakes might be okay. I've had limited success with them in the past.
EDIT: Mistakenly thought I was responding to a reply in my thread about tarpit lists.
In normal lists, I love the Scalpel Squadron. It unlocks null deployment armies (where you start nothing on the board) for us, and gives you a reasonable chance of getting a couple extra Victory Points.
Mandrakes I love less. They lack killing power, and lack resiliency. Virtually anything can carve them up in assault. The loss of their 5++ from last edition is just too crippling a change for them, in my opinion. If you have 36 points to spend and nothing else to spend it on, they can be alright.

I don't like Scalpel Squadron, but I know a lot of others like it for an all-reserve army. The problem with Mandrakes is that all they can really do is hold a backfield objective whilst providing a bit of short-range shooting. But, a venom can do the same whilst also shooting into the enemy deployment zone. And, unlike the mandrakes, it has the mobility to quickly redeploy elsewhere if necessary.

| Well I guess that I have figured out how to build my army.
Blaster and WWP Archon with 4 Blaster Trueborn in Venom 4 Venoms with 5 Warriors in each, 1 Blaster in each unit 1 Raider with Splinter racks, 10 Warriors with 1 Dark lance 5 Scourges with 4 Heat lances 5 Scourges with 4 Haywire blasters 6 Reavers with 2 Heat lances and 2 Cluster caltrops 2 Razorwings 2 Ravagers
Or something like that :
