So played both the lists last night.
First game List 1 vs White Scars grav gladius. ITC Mission: Kill points (lol)
So obviously you all would expect a win, and I did win, but he put some damn hurting on that list. I was almost tabled, it went to 7. Poor rolling on my part and he is just an insanely good player. I had won kill points turn one though, and swooped up first blood. Which is what that mission should be renamed "First Blood". Really digging that void shield gen.
6-5
Second game List 2 vs PJ Pant's Flying Circus list. ITC Mission: The scouring
For those who don't know:
1 Bloodthirster (D axe) 2++ most of the time
Belakor
Fateweaver
1 Tz Daemon prince
2 units of pink horrors
1 unit of cultists in bunker
1 helldrake
It's not his current chaos knight list but it has the dthirster instead.
Gotta say first off the riptides felt like a tax. They did exactly what they used to do in the beginning of 6th when I dropped Tau.
That being said I won this second game by the skin of my teeth. At least in this game our dice were having their way with both of us. Our rolls were very polar the entire game. Rolling super hot and super cold, it made for a very interesting game. He made a glaring mistake that cost him the game, and I was able to get lucky and pull out maelstrom by 1. I had gotten big game hunter from killing belakor. lots of craziness went on, it could have gone either way.
So in my opinion the clear winner is List 1. I had to sacrifice shard of anaris and the stone of anthantlksjdfjkalhsdf to fit in those bare bone riptides and I was not a fan. Just like I wasn't a fan when I played Tau in the top of 6th. The second list doesn't play how I like to play and the first list does. I like having options and being able to adapt to situations. Those Rangers and Void shield allow me to null deploy, hornets have acute senses, and I can hit a flank super hard.
List 1 it is. For now...
