| New question, grots? How are they reliable? Is it the T5 3W and FNP?? With their armor being 6+ I just feel like they might fall. I have three metal oop I could use just not sure if they're worth dropping my incubi. Also what upgrades should I consider.
Played nids last week. Forgot to post the batrap results. Won 15-5. | |

| Yes, it's because of T5 3W and FnP. FnP is basically a save that almost can't be taken away from them because you need S10 to ID them. Prior to Strength D weapons, most armies didn't have any S10 in them at all. Further, since they all have rampage, they generally get tons of S5 attacks at WS4 with rerolls to wound against T4 or lower(from the poison).

| I went with Archon in raider dark lances/ night shield with 3x incubi 1x klavex Two venoms X2 splinter cannons. with warriors x1 blaster for each 5. Scourges haywire Razor wing with dark lances. Talos pain engine with igor and heat lances. Why do they get to reroll to wounds? Sorry I'm sure I could just look it up. | |

| Because the poison special rule gives you rerolls to wounds instead of wounding on a fixed number if you'd wound them on a better number without the poison. So S5 would normally wound T4 or lower on a 3+, which is better than the poison 4+ on the grot's flesh gauntlet. So they'd wound T4 on 3+ instead and reroll failed wounds.

| What's my game plan for Eldar. He is in second place and I feel like he is who I'll end up playing?? Never played them and I know he plays dark Eldar too.

Buy him breakfast and slip a laxative into his coffee, hoping for a forfeit? But in all seriousness, it's really hard to say without knowing what flavor of eldar he's playing. A seer council deathstar plays way differently and requires completely different tactics and firepower than a multiple wraithknight list, for instance. Just out of curiousity, in this escalation league, do you have to stick with the same faction you started with all the way through? Are you allowed to add allies? What are the rules? I recall you mentioned not buying any more DE and having limited models. I'm just wondering how that works in a league format designed to require you to have more and more models as the league goes on. | |

| No not escalation, it was suppose to be but everyone agreed on 1000 point... You do have stick with the same army. But you can switch things around with in that faction. I got stuck playing the second necron army. Big guns.. I couldn't kill his hq to take him off an objective.. 11-9 my loss. He is in third now. The first place necrons is a head by a big margin and will likely win. I'm behind necrons x2 and Eldar....... I don't feel bad about that considering my army str. Grots didn't die but got locked in combat.. Talos was the star. Locked 10 immortals and four scarabs in combat for three turns before giving a point.. I had fun. Sad about not gaining position... | |

| How many grots were locked up with those immortals and scarabs? And how didn't they die? Even with 3+ saves and reanimation protocols, you should have been killing a couple each round, forcing leadership tests at a penalty.
Don't forget that grotesques also have instant death on to-wound rolls of 6, which gives necrons a penalty to reanimation protocols for that wound. With a performance like that, I feel like you either missed something with the grots, or you had really bad rolls.
Each grotesque should average 7 attacks WITHOUT a bonus from charging. 4 on profile, plus 1 for 2 CC weapons, +1d3 from rampage.
3 Grots then, would get 21 attacks against those immortals at WS4, S5, initiative 4. On average, they should kill 2 immortals before the immortals get to swing back, and that's assuming they didn't charge.
Either way, if you only had 3 grots in the unit, your 105 point unit held up 200+ points of models for 3 turns. Don't feel bad. Necrons are hard for everyone to kill without using D weapons. D weapons ignore reanimation protocols, so they're really the trick to killing necrons. | |

| Actually my grots were in combat with warriors. Talos held the 10 immortals and four units of scarabs. And I had cold dice no question... He just wasn't very tactical. That being said he did win still.... no luck in the close combat.. | |
