I know this doesn't help gunboats, but in terms of other shooty units, would it be advisable to go back to the the edition strategy? The one wherein units aim to disembark into cover on turn 1, and stay there for most/all of the game. - CptMetal wrote:
Is a WWP without Raider a valid tactic now to get wraith guard where you want them to be now? Is that even possible? Could Wraithguard ever be deployed in a Raider with WWP? I thought they were bulky, meaning you couldn't fit a character with them, even with a minimum squad?

| Waithguard are minimum 5 and bulky, so no you could not wwp them in a raider as a minimum unit takes up all 10 spaces in the raider. But he might have been trying to say, instead of raiders you attach a character with a wwp to bring them in as a substitute to getting them to where they need to be. | |

| So if i am reading this correctly my plans have come to froition. Now everyone on the turnament scean will not know what my codex does. And how it works.... yes yes everyone stop playing DE and allow me to exploit my victoms. i actually do not mind these changes. All seem like buffs to our book. I never ran a raider other than for grots so owell and other than that i dont remember the last time i jinked in a game. Now if they will just fix helions to respectiple mele units (make them like swooping hawks movement/+1 attack) and give me back my dam special caractors i will be happy. | |

| I apologize if my remarks were received as being rude, as this is not what I intended. I rather had hoped to shore up resolve through some tough inspiration. We have never been a top tier or even an on par army, and that's what drew me in initially. It is said almost every game that is played at my club, "war is not fair". When I first learned of the raider/jink change I didn't go all chicken little, I immediately began pondering adaptation. I realize we are currently dwelling in Internet fantasyland, but to be accused of having a "bad attitude" seems ludicrous and backwards.
Perhaps it was the word "whiner". I shall now use the term "tragically inconvenienced indiviuals"

| Disembarking into cover or next to an objective might be an option. Let him waste his shots shooting a five dude unit. And if it's a 10 dudes unit he has to because they can do serious damage for a troop unit.
Jinking isn't an option anymore but we can still hug cover. The official games workshop ruins are area terrain and these is benefiting to say the least.

| For creating cover for gunboats, jetbikes seemed to be the #1 choice. I play Urien in Grotesquerie with a cronos and two units of six reavers for about a year now in different variations and it works great. Bubble management provided you get lots of self created cover with FnP. Should still work, even though I play three gunboats and of course I enjoyed jinking very much .... | |

| I love Reavers, but I play them 3 units of 3 with caltrops, I never liked 6man units of them | |

| I also find 3 man reaver more efficient than (50% cheaper for the same obj grabbing ability, easier to hide, and still strong enough to be a threat with CC). I'm very excited with the razorwing changes. Crons is one of my main opponent: lets say that ravagers will shine vs AV11 I switched to 5-man squad in venom instead of gunboat last year. Gunboats were too much juicy as a target. | |

| Ok, I've kept waiting for someone else to mention this across multiple threads, and it simply hasn't happened, so I will point it out. It's been said that many of these changes are "good" for the Dark Eldar. And from a base rulebook perspective, that may be the case.
However, almost all of the "good" changes were already the way 75% of the free world played it. If you look at the rules that people like Calyptra (in another thread) pointed out, almost all of those are already part of the ITC house rules. And even within those house rules, DE have been bottom of the power totem by a longshot. So all these FAQs have done so far is further cement that position.
As for the ITC similarities, there are so many similarities, in fact, that I wouldn't be surprised if we find out that GW is working with ITC leadership on rules testing and feedback for the FAQs. Just a week or two ago, the ITC/Frontline Gaming released a video in which they talked about a mysterious "collaberation" between themselves and GW, so it would make sense.

| I just put a list together and realized that for 10 points more I could take minimum wyches in venoms instead of min warriors. With shooting being the only bonus warriors had, why not hope for good drug rolls. Plus they can tie up any melta bombs or power fists that get too close to their ride for at least a turn. Our minimum troop then is just kind of an "antibody upgrade to the vehicle" to confound the advance of the first unit to get tooclose. | |

| It's a thought. I've had them tie up some pretty impressive units before back at the start of 7th when I tried to use them. | |

Except for people who don't want to play on an Imperial city table all the time.

| It doesn't matter. Create an Eldar terrain and use those rules refitted for the true kin. | |

| I think what i love the most with these rules is the change to flying monsterus creatures and gargantuan creatures were they do not get a cover save from their base being in terrain. making it a lot easier to deal with them now. | |

This runs a close second to Psychic Shriek penetrating Void Shields.

Not an actual change, since that's always how it was supposed to work, but six of one, half a dozen of the other. It works the right way now.
