| Hola amigo, and congratulations on your win!
How many opponents did this tournament see? And how many rounds was it?
With regards to play specifics, have you taken this list up against an armor wall, such as a Space Marine Battle Company or a wholly Imperial Knights army? These tend to be the heaviest lifts for Dark Eldar, along with lists that universally ignore cover (like certain Tau builds). If so, how have you defeated these lists?
You said you regretted the Haywire Taloi, and would have gone Splinter Cannons. Do you think that the SCs might run the risk of shooting you out of charge range (and denying you the extra VPs from the formation)? Do the extra VPs affect your game, usually?
With your Reavers, do you tend to shoot'n'scoot, or charge for the attempt at a Rending wound? If the latter, how often do your find your squad crippled by the counter-attack?

The second which just went by became invitational due to the demand. As it just went onto the ITC circuit it attracted a lot of tournament regulars in the UK. The SN guys wanted to try and get a mix of the best players, with a high standard of painting on their armies to give the tournament a premium sort of vibe.
So they didn't have a published criteria, such as a certain number of average ITC points, paint points, or whatever? They just picked people based on some non-published internal opinions/criteria? I mean, obviously you'd be invited, since you won the first one. I also assume the final 4-8 from the last one were invited. Just curious where the rest came from.

| Right folks. Pretty busy today but I'll try and summarise my answers: 30 players. 2 day, 5 round tournament (so I played 5 games). Selection Criteria was based on the Top 5 from the last event. Remainder were selected based on A combination of different tournament results, (ITC points etc) and hobby quality as far as I know. I know that the organisers were keen to pull in as high a level of competition as possible, but not at the cost of non painted models etc. Army composition rules and mission format are available on the sn battle reports website, so I won't repeat them here. I have faced an imperial knight army with the Dark Eldar (it's on my On Demand channel), so yes, I have faced an armoured wall. Honestly, any smart player avoids the corpse thief like the plague, so reducing charge range with the splinter isn't an issue. In my Eldar game, I had the skatach Wraithknight, quite literally running away from me - which was perfect as I placed my objectives centrally and that won me the game The Reavers have always done their job (although they would have been even better with lances), if the unit they charge will be too difficult to destroy with one unit, then I send in multiple. I also found the Reavers exceptionally good against knights and vehicles, as those rending hits really add the hull point tally up. | |

| @The Spider
I personally like HL on my Reavers, with the ability to get on the side/rear armor and get close with a Melta Lance gun, they take even more Fire power than normal.
For a long time I used Blasters (b.c of the range I was thinking) but swapped to HL after that I notice players are much more scared of them and really try to kill them over my venoms (especially in 7th ed). Just something to think about.
I also use HL on my CtC, HWB for me was never reliable, it would mostly only get 2 HP's out of the 5 shots, if it is in cover at all, 1 or 2 HP from the CTC felt like I wasted them. WIth CtC wanting to get into Melee anyways, a HL short range but being more powerful (IMO it is more powerful) also seem to fit the play style of the unit.

| Lawrence, I've watched your test match vs pastry chef with great interest and it was fantastic to find out that you've actually managed to defend your title. Dark Eldar aren't in a pretty place supposedly and stories like yours are a source of great pleasure for me, as DE are and will always be my favourite army.
So, thank you for championing our cause so to speak, and bringing a spark of hope err I mean of course a sick, twisted and depraved spark of hope to us.
