Haemonculos Covens 1850p...beat up Decurion today with this...nice...

So...i thought, i was gonna get absolutely murdered, when i saw my opponent´s Necron Decurion list...he had Zahndrek(or something like that as an HQ), two blobs of 15 warriors+10 warriors in a ride, Immortals, some formation with two Doomscythes, the damned spider+wraiths+scarabs = gives you re-animation, bikes with blast weapons that ignores cover...and i had this...

There´s so many useless upgrades here, i know, but these are actually all of my Haemie style models ATM...it was a tight Maelstrom game (i was leading the whole game with like 1-2 points) until on turn 6 i stretched the lead to six points and he called it while drawing useless cards. My tactics worked as they always do against the Necrons. First, shoot the support unit (Spidey in this case) or any MC, with just 3-5 wounds with poison and this was the third time, the same opponent left something like that in plain sight. In two previous games, my Venoms+Talos gunned down the same C´Tan...i was SO surprised, that i won.

The first game (1200p) was a trimmed down list from this and i beat a IG+Tempestus list to the ground! He had one unit left and a Vendetta on 1 HP, when he called it.

The high T value and loads of wounds = tough to deal with. I dropped my WL with the 6 Grots in his backline and he shot EVERYTHING on to them (wiffed with the S10 blasts thou!), leaving an Aberration + WL to go against a Warrior squad in the next rounds CC (which they were locked in for about four rounds, never dying)

I like Haemonculous Coven a lot. I played it pretty exclusively. Not because its actually better but because I like it more and I'll just say it, i am good ENOUGH to play just about anything and do well so why not play what I like?

The Grotesquerie is really great and I cannot recommend it enough. there are a few SCARY counters to it, mostly fielded by less common armies but still absolutely present in the meta. But overall it is a pretty darn capable Formation. Makes me happy to see more people playing it.

S10 or Force will clean out any of our stronger units. I normally fear Grey Knights because of this...

well i mesan...  We could talk all day about things that have counters.  Nothing lives forever.  

But yes Grey Knights are a pain in the patooty.  There's no perfect solution.  

I nearly tabled a Battle Company on Saturday...using Orks.  My losses included 2 Ork Trukks.  The orks went on to fight am Iyanden Battle Host (basically).  Tabled it.  Using Orks.

So does that mean we never want to play with battle Companies?  Nah.  It just means 40K is all about reality and not about theory.  =)

What list were you running? Was it a shooty Ork list? and what pts?

Thats surprising that he couldent kill a few Grot squads just sitting out in the open without a transport.

how did you use the Taloi?

1 cronos and 2x3 taloi don´t look like Dark Artisan, or CDC. but the second Haemy does?

I deployed the Talos group one close to Cronos and the other to the other side of my DZ. Another Haemie babysat the smalle Grot group and helped the Talos group one dispose of the Wraiths in CC (which took like forever...he didn´t fail a single insta gibb 3++)...

so you didnt run a CTC (for Scout movement) or Dark Artisan (with WWP), just ran with them?
how the hell did you get into combat with them against Necrons? ^^

It was round two, when the Wraiths were attacking me. I didn´t run CTC, i had 2x3 Talos and a single Cronos to boost the FNP...

Unbound?  I dont see formations or troops?


Losing out on all the best reasons to run that many talos =(

Ah coterie formation isnt what I would run but I am glad it worked out. Always fun beating necrons.

He just didn't label it. It looks like the covenite coterie detachment. But I agree, I'd probably have utilized the formations here.

Yeah, that thingy from the Supplement. I ALWAYS play the formations, so i just changed stuff a bit...now i´m back running a regular DE -list, just cos i don´t have enough models for a bigger Haemie -list...so i got CTC and Grotesquerie now...
