This is a list my mate posted on another, less worthy site. He got minimal feedback, wanted to see if TDC could do better.

I don't like it, but feel free to comment and offer criticism.

I had to add Mark of Khorne to the termie lord so he can take the Axe of Fury thing.

As far as tactics go, I imagine Kharn and the 15 man cultists will jump into the Spartan and try to assault. Not too sure about the sorcerors, obviously he's fishing for Invis, but it would be be somewhat unfluffy to attach them to Kharn and cultists and start casting spells surrounded by Khorn followers.

I'm not an expert on CSM and don't want to do a bunch of research, so acronyms for all the upgrades are lost on me.

That said, there ARE 2 observations I feel comfortable making:

1. By the looks of recent rumours, CSM may be getting a new codex VERY soon, so I might not buy any new models for a list just yet.

2. I think the 3 soul grinder formation from the newer chaos supplement would probably be better than the maulerfiends in this list. I'd probably drop both maulerfiends and 1 of the HQs to add in the triple soul grinder formation with phlegm bombardments.

P.S. Based on what I'm seeing online, your friend should note that the sicaran only has AV12 on the sides and rear as per the forgeworld FAQ. They said the AV13 all around was a misprint.

Thanks for the input 'Betray.

1. Friend actually has all this stuff already. (Spartan/Sicarab/Fireraptor) he alsi complains endlessly about how CSM need a new codex.

2. I'll pass that on.

3. I hadn't seen that anywhere yet. Thanks for the heads up.

I'll try to clear up the list and make it a bit more readable.

I think any opponent that can deal with lots of cultists quickly will give this list problems since it doesn't really have much in the way of shooting. So it will basically give the opponent 1-2 free turns of shooting before it's relevent. The quad lascannon arrays are nice, but I think they can only target 1 unit, right? And against lists like IG parking lots with wyverns, any artillery based list, or even basic DE with a good amount of AP5 poison fire and mobility, this list will struggle.

Swapping out the maulerfiends for soul grinders will help, since the soul grinders can get S8 AP3 large blasts that can become twin-linked with the formation rule.

He ran a very similair list last time, and it was essentially as you described.

I was playing a very half-assed Thousand Son list (with a Crimson Death Formation) and was doin pretty well. All the 'fiends ate it, and it was only the Spartan and its occupants that caused me trouble.

Although I think 15 cultists and Kharn would be a pain to deal with in assault, simply for the fact there are lots of bodies to chew through and a fair number of attacks comin back at you.

Sure, but they've gotta get there, and there isn't a whole lot of target saturation involved in his army. That thing and the maulerfiends are your primary mech targets. It's pretty simple. If I were playing against him, I'd probably be focusing everything on trying to kill the spartan first turn. Everything else in his list will take multiple turns before it will be an assault threat, whereas the spartan occupants could potentially charge on turn 2 if you're not careful.
