| Fellow archons,
The Tantalus model is so stylish and menacing, and then you look at the points and rules...
I know all the drawbacks of playing it, but I decided to use it anyway, so the question is: how to take the most of it?
The Tantalus has 12 front and side armor, 4HP, the night shields option for +3jink and flickerfield for ignore cover weapons. It also has the scytevanes, wich I find quite interesting because it allows you to flat out move AND still make some decent damage. It also permits you to jink and dont care to much because you will still be able to make damage. Or not to jink at all and trust in the flickerfild so the troops can shot at full ballistic skill. Also the enhanced sails for better flat out move. And last, the 16 transport capacity.
What I'm thinking is to use it in turn one to transport my warriors, drop them on turn 2 were they are more useful, and start moving flat out and jinking all around the table. If they ignore it or don't use to much fire power against it, I will avoid jinking and relay on the flickerfield to take the most of the two pulse disintegrator cannons. Could be and incredibly expensive and very mobile distraction carnifex with an impressive area of influence on the board between the 36 inches cannons or the enhanced flat out move . What do you think? Do you have better ways to use it? Thanks for any pice of advice that you have!

| Personally, I like to load it up for maximum death, and at a ridiculous point level.
The last time I used a Tantalus, I loaded with an Archon with WWP, and a fully stacked unit of Medusae. I dropped next to whatever my (Marine) opponent had that was most threatening, and wipred them away while the Tantalus fired at the next biggest threat.
All the points, but a game changer. | |

| I ran mine recently with 10 ssylth and 3 medusae with an Archon. Might have been 2 medusae. Anyways with the racks they put out 30 TL poisoned shots 2 ap3 templates and the 12 disintegrator shots.
It eventually got charged and killed by a demon prince but I think the unit killed a prince or 2 and a thirster prior to that. As well as causing 3 wounds to the charging prince and then killing him after jumping out of the wreck.
It was great. | |

| I usually use mine to transport a court via wwp deepstrike but I find that it usually attracts ridiculous amounts of fire because of its size and so some opponents treat it like they would a knight or wraithknight. However, I do like its 5 hp and armour 12 as its surprisingly resilient for a DE vehicle. Snil | |

| As it will be a huge fire magnet, wouldn't it be better to use it alone, without troops in it? It's still 12 desintegrator shot that can be used even when you move, plus bladevanes when you jink and flat-out out of threat. | |

| Also now we can take it as part of the new start collecting DE formation and give it PE, don't we? | |
