Salutations fellow Kabalites

Hello everyone. I'd like to first say thank you for allowing me to join this great community (I've been lurking for a few weeks and am very impressed!)

I'm making a bit of a return to 40k after a hiatus and (surprise) am choosing to cast my lot in with the Dark Kin. I've decided to go with the Dark Eldar for a number of reasons 1) I think they have the most impressive model range in 40k and I've been eager to paint them since their 5th edition release 2) I think the playstyle will be significantly different from armies I have played, and 3) their fluff is awesome (when they came out in 5th edition, after my buddy got into them and i glanced at their book I had to pick it up just to read it).

I played a bit in 3rd (well.....as much as a 12 year old really plays 40k) I painted up the SM in the boxed set as Black Templars with very shoddy heraldry and bought a couple more kits, but I really got started in 4th with Imperial Guard. I loved that their book allowed you to customize a regiment to your liking, and over time I built up a huge Guard army. I also dabbled a bit in Chaos (because they still had a cool book then......and haven't since). In fifth edition I continued with my Guard (no I didn't run leaf blower- I never even painted up the Valkyries I had, haha) and started playing a lot more as I had many more buddies get into the game. Sixth came out around the time I had to get serious with finishing up my schooling and as much I hardly played and ending up selling my army when I found out I had to move across the state to do my clinical rotations in my medical program.

After moving back, getting gainfully employed (at least fiscally), and settling down I decided to give Dark Angels a chance when 7th came out, and I could not stand playing them. Then I got married and all that other hobby stuff, but now I'm back and ready for work, contemplating how to build my Kabal. I'm mainly looking at playing pretty casually with a few of my buddies who still play, not play in any competitive tourneys, but I need to learn the ropes none the less.

So far I have listened to a few episodes of Splintermind (mainly concerning starting as a new player and unit/formation tactics), Most of Skari's units reviews and have done a bit of reading on here. So that's where I am at, and I'm excited to get started.
