Kabalite vs Trueborn

This is a question about modeling. Do you need to be distinctive about modeling the difference or is weapon load out enough? I just built 20 last night and I can't find anything in the building instructions or represented in the pictures of any difference in the models. Being new, I don't want to show up to an event and have someone call me out for not being WYSIWYG.

In my opinion you can just let them be as they are but it's obviously more fun to convert them.

Convert? As in? I just have the bodies built at this point. I haven't added any heads, weapons(other than the splinter cannons on 4), or bits so I can still go nuts.

Well, I used dark elves heads. The guys with the great swords and the skull helmets. It's easy and I think they are looking great. (check out the tainted Reborn in Kabals of the dark city).

Since there are not models for the trueborn you can simply use cosmetic changes to represent them. Some use different helmets, like the full bike helmets from the reaver jetbikes, or you can paint them with a different colour or pattern. Or just say they are trueborn and be done with it.

There is a rumour that a Trueborn kit is coming...
Therefore I differentiate with a weapon only for the time being.

I added Black Ark Corsair capes to my Trueborn unit, I had seen this conversion elsewhere and thought it looked good. I also field them all helmetless to arrogantly display their superiority and individuality, as opposed to my regular Kabalites who are all helmeted. In addition to that obviously their greater number of heavy and special weapons sets them apart.

I hope the Trueborn kit rumour turns out to be true despite having dedicated time to converting. Any new kits for DE are a bonus.

Most people just reserve certain helmet types for trueborn, or paint their sashes a different colour.

I don't think it really matters if you make them stand out at all, personally. I use them interchangeably with no visible distinction.

Some people paint the shoulder pauldron of every weapon specialist with an insignia, ornament or distinctly different colour. The idea being that they are distinguished warriors or wealthy trueborn with the privilege of carrying the most powerful weapons. Then they are either added to Warriors unit as a weapon specialist or they form their own unit of Trueborn.

This makes it bit odd for the "fifth" Trueborn though that he has to carry a lowly splinter rifle though. :-D

Up to you. They will clearly be marked out by their masses of special weapons.

Maybe add some gold trim rather than bolt-gun metal?

@Vorl-Xoelanth you added cloaks? How? Can you please post some pictures, I thought about that option as well but thought that the cloaks where to much integrated into the body model wise...

Oh darn, those look great @countadhemar! Since the consensus is that it's no big deal I was just gonna roll with it. Now after seeing this I have the hankering to do something similar. I need to resist until my army is more fleshed out.

Just got a lot I bought off ebaylast night (less than $1/model and on custom resin bases). They are all built as females. Then I noticed that all the Sybarites I built are male (wasn't really paying attention when I built them, more focused on the backs and legs). I have an unintentionaly misogynistic Kabal! Maybe I'll do something with that. Make all trueborn only male.
