| Alright help me out here, if i look in the rulebook on beam i get transfered to the psychic power pg.27 And if i go to pg.195 and look at infernal gaze it states that it is a beam and have the following profile... but in the weapon type it does not say beam. My question is: Is Infernal Gaze a Beam and if so why would our Dark Reaper not be a beam? | |

| I think you might need to give us some background. What do you think should be a beam? Infernal Gaze (the psychic power) is a beam. It says so, right in the spell description!
"Infernal Gaze is a beam with the following profile"
Dark Reaper however, is a Craftworld Aspect Warrior, not a weapon.

| I think perhaps he means the Forgeworld Reaper?
GW really needs to work on original naming. Corsair Reavers and Dark Eldar Reavers is another one.
Saying that, that's how we ended up with 'Aelves' so I'm not certain it's a good idea...

| The Beam of Reaper is not a Beam weapon. If it were, it would be listed in its profile like "Heavy 1, Beam, Haywire, Kill Shock". If it is just named "Beam" it is not beam in terms of game rules. | |

| I can see the confusion now. The Reaper's Storm Vortex Projector has a 'beam' mode but it is not a beam weapon as it does not have beam in the profile. The Infernal Gaze psychic power also does not have 'beam' in the weapon profile but does have it in the spell description.
Basically GW can't write rules properly or consistently.

| Asking questions like "why?" regarding GW rules will earn you one way trip to a nuthouse. :-D But TBH I can see how weapon can fire a beam and not being the "rules beam". Sooo... just some attention needed reading rules. | |

| In the case of the Reaper, it's fire mode called 'beam' predates the beam psychic type. | |

| Yeah I thought it might be an artifact from before 'Beams' were things.
FW doesn't update its rules as frequently as GW, so there will probably be quite a few odd things like that...

| I find FW to be a bit erratic on most things, including updating rules. | |
