Do Beams Ignore cover? Empty
PostSubject: Do Beams Ignore cover?   Do Beams Ignore cover? I_icon_minitimeFri Jan 09 2015, 16:37

Hi, this might be silly but as the title states Do Beams Ignore cover? I cannot find where they do. However in my mind this makes them weird because if my beam hits 2 units right next to each other do they get cover from each other. Or a better example an IG parking lot. There is no language stating directionality like blasts. from the description it makes it sound like top down point of intersection.

Hope that is clear brain to words sometimes a jumble.

Thanks.

It sort of depends - if the beam has a weapon profile though, it would allow cover saves unless it states otherwise. I've never seen anything to suggest that this is not the case.

I see no problem with that for cover from stealth or shrouding or wargear. What about terrain though and other models hit by the beam. the beam the only limitation on the beam is that it cannot go through models in CC. and you draw it from the end back to the model shooting the attack. issue because no more area terrain. I don't even think you need to see the end point, have to check later.

Area terrain still exists.

I suppose there is an argument that since hits don't require LoS ergo no cover - but it is not supported in the rules anywhere that I can see, and most beams still have a weapon profile which allows for cover saves against hits.

If you can find where Beams grant Ignore Cover, then they do. Otherwise the second unit in line that is behind the first unit will get their cover save.
