| My list was
Syren 150 -chain hook 10 -blade venom 10 -blast pistol 50 -220
Debutant 70 ×4 -chain hook 10 - blade venom 10 -90
Wyches 80 x2 -chain hook 10 -splinter pistol 20 -110
Wyches 80 x2 -chain hook 10 - blade venom 10 -100
Movement was similar but the terrain was not as sparse. My first opponent was Chaos with 1 marine w/ bolter. 1 with missile launcher a sergeant with sword and pistol and 2 cultists. I don't think he was ready for the charge ranges and when I got into combats I only rolled poorly against a cultist who failed to wound. His sergeant went down to a debutante. Everything else died in close combat and his missile ran away.
Game 2 was guard. I don't remember the exact list but there was 1 guy with a chain sword, 1 sniper, 1 flamer, 1 grenade launcher, 2-3 las guns and 1 pistol/sword guy. In this game movement was the same but I took a lot more shots coming in. Bad rolls saw most of my people who went down not die, but I did eventually lose 3 or 4 total. However all in all it went like the first game. Once I got into CC the envenomed chain hooks killed everything with no problems.

| That sounds like bad luck.
Btw: you know you can hide behind cover and go to cover from cover to not get shot at from the heavy Bolter in the backfield?

| The thing with shadow wars is that more terrian is to be used. I played a game with the store manager of my GW and he had a lot of terrian on the 4x4, tightly packed streets, small corridors, high vantage points, the only 'open' ground was near the centre of the board which had the containers and battlefield debris scattered around it. He was playing scouts, so more open ground would have benefitted him but he said he wouldn't play on a board with any less terrian than what he had. It gives a balance to both types of armies, high ground for shooting and lots of cover for close combat units. No one at a disadvantage. My wyches managed to take out 2 scouts, and cut off his Sargent. so far with the only game I've played I really like this, it's far more tactical and rewarding | |

| I want to second CptMetal that I was disappointed the only option was a Wych Cult. While I think Mandrakes would be OP in this sort of game, I would have preferred Kabalites. I remember playing a home brew necromunda game with 40k troops back in early 3rd ed and the cheaper troops with better guns always performed better in my experience. | |

They're probably trying to sell old stockpiles of wyches that haven't sold at all in the past 2 years, since GW ruined them. Personally, I'd love to field an all-wyches army. I really like the models that much. But I'm a pragmatic guy, and like others, I'm not going to buy models I'll never use on the tabletop because their rules suck. This is probably just an attempt to give people a reason to buy those models that no one otherwise would. Perhaps, also, an indication that wyches aren't forgotten and are going to get more attention in the future. One can hope.

| Literally every game set they have come out with has been to either promote a new product or move product that isn't selling. Gangs of Commorragh, Stormcloud Attack, Death Masque, every Start Collecting! set, etc. | |

| Interestingly, splinter weapons have a better AP than bolters in Shadow War. And Wych weapons are better than competition. I don't know if those principals will follow to 8th, but it is interesting. I'm looking forward to trying out a Wych kill team this weekend. Looks fun. | |

| @TA I don't think *every* start collecting box was to move poor product. The DE was awesome, the only less than good option was the archon that could be easily converted to just another Kabalite (at least that's what I did). I would have preferred two Venoms over one Raider, but Raiders are still good. Though as also a CSM player theirs was about the worst thing you could buy. Craftworld was okay but you did have to pay more than just the cost of bikes to get bikes and a tank. Gangs was cheaper than just buying 6 Reavers and you got hellions for free. They converted pretty easily into jump pack corsairs but you need putty to give them shoes. I can't imagine going into a war zone without a helmet let alone without f'n shoes. | |
